About The Role

Our Document Intelligence team is a group of outstanding ML practitioners aiming to extract, structure, and understand the information contained in unstructured documents. We are continuously expanding our portfolio and are looking for passionate researcher-engineers like you to help us build and deploy state-of-the-art models!
Our primary product is a suite of SOTA ML solutions leveraging linguistic, visual, and spatial features to solve a wide range of complex problems, including: information extraction from document text and tables, document layout analysis, optical character recognition, and more. These solutions power our customers’ data operations (including S&P Global’s), and serve as the foundation for Kensho’s NLP products, such as NERD and Classify.
The Document Intelligence team works closely with the Data, Product, Backend & Frontend teams, and has the full support of our ML ops and Infrastructure teams.
We are seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to help accelerate and improve our model development cycle, continually raising standards of prototyping, building, and maintaining SOTA ML solutions.

What You’ll Do

Design, build, and maintain scalable production-ready ML systems for document processing tasks
Collaborate closely with other ML engineers to build ML pipelines for data processing, training, inference, and evaluation
Actively participate in the ML model lifecycle, from problem framing, through experimentation, to deployment and monitoring in production
Work with unique proprietary datasets of millions of unstructured documents
Work closely with Product, ML Ops, and engineering to deliver ML-based solutions customers rely on
Mentor and lead other ML Scientists and Engineers to help make our team even more awesome!

Who You Are

An expert in document understanding, document intelligence, information retrieval, OCR, or a related domain
3+ years of significant, hands-on experience with ML/NLP/CV (e.g., designing, shipping, and maintaining production systems)
Comfortable with modern tools for building ML pipelines, including data processing, training, inference, maintenance, evaluation, versioning, and experimentation
Expertise in Python and PyTorch-based ML frameworksDemonstrate effective coding, documentation, collaboration, and communication habits[Nice-to-have]
Published in top-tier journals & conferences in document understanding, information retrieval, OCR, or a related domain
