About the job

The Data Service team at Twilio-Segment is the backbone of all data-driven decisions we make to move the business forward. We are seeking a highly skilled data engineer to join our team and help drive our development process. 

As a senior software engineer, you will partner with business stakeholders across the organization to identify pain points, gather requirements, and extract value out of our data. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining pipelines to process terabyte scale datasets using both batch and streaming process techniques. You will also be heavily involved in building out our machine learning infrastructure for our internal data science team. 

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines that collect, process, and transform large volumes of data from various sources into a format suitable for analysis.
  • Develop and maintain data warehouse and data modeling techniques to enable efficient and accurate analysis of data.
  • Document data pipelines, data models, and data transformation processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and understand data requirements for various business needs.
  • Work with data scientists to build our internal machine learning infrastructure.

Required:

  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience with Python, Java, Go, or another programming language.
  • Experience with ETL processes and orchestration tools, such as Airflow or Dagster.
  • Experience with modern data warehousing technologies, such as Snowflake or BigQuery.
  • Experience with distributed systems, such as Hadoop, Spark, or other big data frameworks.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong cross-team communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired:

  • Experience with streaming technology stack, such as Kafka or Kinesis.
  • Experience with developing inside a microservices architecture.
  • Experience with managing and deploying machine learning models.
  • Experience with frontend technologies, such as React or Vue.

Location 

This role will be remote and based in the USA . Approximately no travel is anticipated.

  • The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is $109,280 - $136,600
  • Non-Sales: Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state. This role is also eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
