Job Summary and Mission

As an engineer on the Partner Technology team, you will work to achieve this mission by enhancing, extending, and retooling our Partner (Employee) Integration and Services platform to uplift the employee engagement and experience.
This position contributes to Starbucks success by building Employee data services for analytic solutions. This position is responsible for design, development, testing and support for data pipelines to enable continuous data processing for data exploration, data preparation and real-time business analytics. Successful candidates will have strong engineering and communication skills, experience with data driven decision making process. The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, and enjoy working with large scale of data.

Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Work with engineering team to build and support non-interactive (batch, distributed) & real-time, highly available data, data pipeline and technology capabilities
- Translate strategic requirements into business requirements to ensure solutions meet business needs
- Define & implement data retention policies and procedures
- Define & implement data governance policies and procedures
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
- Enable team to pursue insights and applied breakthroughs, while also driving the solutions to Starbucks' scale
- Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of structured and unstructured data sources and using big data technologies.
- Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
- Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
- Perform root cause analysis to identify permanent resolutions to software or business process issues
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
We are looking for strong hands on knowledge (more than 6/10) in the following:
- “Full stack” Web skills
- Hosting NodeJS, Express in a Cloud environment, Azure preferred
- Oracle Database
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in implementing Security and Authorization requirements.
- Expert in NodeJS, Express, JavaScript, CSS, HTML5
- Strong background in containerized applications and container orchestration systems: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, AKS
- Strong React.js development experience, able to work with latest patterns: Hooks, Contexts
- Able to develop and improve REST APIs with Node.js, Typescript, Express.js, and GraphQL
- CI/CD frameworks and processes for Web: Jenkins preferred. Others that are ok: Travis CI, Circle CI, BitBucket Pipelines, GitLab, etc
- UI/UX and usability foundations
- Good communication skills and “design thinking” approach.
