Job Description:

The opportunity: 

Pluralsight is looking for a Senior Data Product Manager to lead the development of our internal data products and drive the creation of common data models working with our data team specializing in modeling and Kafka. The Senior Data Product Manager will collaborate with a team to drive strategic data initiatives within the organization and understand various teams’ needs. In this role, you will use your product management skills and data expertise to develop a roadmap and OKRs, and work closely with our Data Services team to deliver on it.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive the strategic direction of our internal data products and own the end-to-end data product life-cycle from requirement collection to creation of data models

  • Define SQL join logic for data modeling concepts that tie to business needs

  • Focus on collecting, organizing, storing, and sharing product management data within the organization

  • Prioritize SQL logic for data models and work collaboratively with other Data and Product PMs within the organization

  • Have working knowledge of core data management capabilities including data quality, metadata management, and data stewardship/governance

  • Lead discovery to understand data product needs for various teams’ data modeling needs and improvements to our Kafka data infrastructure

  • Partner with various stakeholders within the company such as Product and Engineering teams, DS/MLE, Analytics to understand their needs for data models

  • Drive communication and collaboration across the organization for best practices for data with appropriate schemas and data product practices

  • Become an expert on our data, develop a deep understanding of how, where, and why it’s generated and processed and what insights it can provide

  • Develop strong metrics and drive a metrics-driven culture within the Data Services organization

Who you are:

  • Experienced in Analytics or Data Engineering and understand data concepts. If you were an Analyst or Data Engineer in a past life, please apply! We are looking for someone who marries data concepts to the Product Management function

  • Data savvy and can explain the pipeline of data from collection to visualization

  • Passionate about delivering data products and technical solutions that impact our business and our customers

  • Able to engage with key stakeholders across product and technology to understand complex, technical workflows and glean resulting requirements

  • Excited about learning about Streaming Engineering concepts and learning about architectural principles

  • Demonstrated ability to understand both business needs and the underpinnings of our product vision as well as effectively communicate with engineers and stakeholders within the organization

  • Become a subject matter expert on the data products and assets produced by the team and communicate and educate users on how to leverage them

Experience you’ll need:

  • 5+ years of data experience ideally in a data product role

  • Technical experience with data analytics, reporting and/or data warehousing and streaming technologies

  • Deep knowledge and demonstrated application of product management methodologies and best practices, and a strong foundation of user-centered design.

  • Experience with delivering applications using open source and cloud big data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Airflow, Hadoop, HBase, object stores

  • Technical degree and/or experience (e.g. Computer Science, Data, Engineering, Information Systems, etc.)
