Job summary
Are you ready to lead the design and implementation of a new approach to ML-driven advertising and the AI experience? Alexa Marketing Science is looking for an inventive, adaptable, and curious Senior Data Scientist to help dive deep into customer attitudes and interactions with AI. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience listening to stakeholders, defining and refining research goals, and generating potential solutions to novel problems. Candidates must have the breadth of knowledge to balance algorithm performance and complexity on a per-problem basis, as well as the ability to explain the impact of the model to a business audience in non-technical terms.

Key job responsibilities
Scientists at Amazon are expected to develop new techniques to process large data sets and contribute to the design of automated systems. Key responsibilities include:
* Apply ML, statistics or econometrics techniques to develop and analyze prototype models.
* Design and analyze data from large-scale online experiments and small-scale experiments and surveys to provide insights and validate prototype models.
* Collaborate with scientists across teams in peer-review processes, publishing research in internal forms and industry conferences.
* Partner closely with product and engineering teams to improve the advertising performance and translate prototype models to production.
* Research and experiment with novel statistical modeling approaches.

About the team
The vision for Alexa Marketing Science (AMS) is to understand and anticipate customer voice assistant desires, needs, and preferences by surfacing timely information and options about Alexa and Alexa products. Our work enables builders to consistently launch 4-star products, in a manner that entices customers everywhere to require Alexa experiences throughout their daily life.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Master’s degree (or Bachelor's degree + 8 years of experience) in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, Quantitative Social Science, or Computer Science
* 5+ years of experience working as a data scientist or a similar role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling, and communication
* 5+ years of experience using data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.)
* Experience in ETL and databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Advanced expertise in Python, SQL, Stata, R and/or Scala.
* Experience modeling observational survey data
* Experience finding practical solutions for ambiguous and challenging business questions
* Superior verbal and written communication skills, ability to convey rigorous mathematical concepts and considerations to non-experts
* PhD in Economics, Quantitative Marketing, Quantitative Social Science, or closely related field.
