We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist

We’re looking for a Senior Data Scientist to drive personalization and ML based services. In this role, you’ll work closely with Product to develop the foundation of Built In’s data science practices as part of the data engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is eager to solve data problems of varying complexities with a focus on making our data actionable, and influencing the experience of our users.

How you’ll contribute

• Develop and test a wide variety of algorithms and models that improve the platform experience for both users and customers
• Use Python, Jupyter, and a variety of database systems on a day-to-day basis and work with our engineers to build real-time APIs that work with your findings
• Partner with leadership and stakeholders to identify new applications for data science across the business
• Partner with analytics team on solutions for data validation, anomaly detection, and data enrichment within our data warehouse (Snowflake, DBT)
• Educate the organization on new analytical approaches to drive business decisions

What you need

• 4+ years of hands-on experience in data science, ideally with a focus in building machine learning solutions (NLP, recommendation systems, customer segmentations) 
• Experience with Python ML ecosystem - pandas, numpy, sklearn, etc.
• Proficiency with relational databases (SQL) and unstructured & semi structured data
• Experience with cleaning and vetting new data sources as well as troubleshooting data integrity issues
• Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to convey technical ideas to non-technical audiences
• An understanding of A/B testing and sophisticated statistical techniques (hyperparameter tuning, feature importance)
• Ability to work independently and autonomously, while also learning from and teaching others in a highly collaborative and interdependent data engineering team
• Curiosity and desire to dig into analytical questions and identify opportunities for improvement to our data infrastructure

Impress us even more

• Experience with ML Ops, including deploying models as services in a production environment and monitoring model drift and performance
• Working knowledge of AWS infrastructure and data tools (S3 buckets, ECS tasks, Sagemaker, OpenSearch)
• Experience working with and optimizing search algorithms
