Come join the Global Retail Markets US Data Strategy team and work closely with other individuals in the Data Office (DO), our partners in Data Analytics and Engineering (DAE) and our stakeholders in the business. About the Role

Our team focuses on building our strategy leveraging a program management skillset, messaging our strategy, planning and tracking our strategy.  For this role the responsibilities for each focus area would be the following:

Building our strategy through Program Management: Partners with the business to understand their business problems and how data can help solve them. Partners with technology and data teams to surface those problems–as well as to discuss and ideate on possible approaches to solve them. Influences the prioritization of data use cases in order to achieve an efficient build-out of the data capabilities within the data strategy roadmap. Also conducts direct research on emerging data and technology trends, monitoring best-in-class companies for data innovations, using learnings to evolve the data strategy roadmap.

Program Management: Leads and monitors progress along our training roadmap for the Data Academy, which is a self-serve learning portal for the data, analytics, and data science community across the Enterprise.  Brainstorms different areas of additional focus or content, while balancing the support the strategy team provides, along with partnering with other groups within the DO, DAE and our stakeholders.

Messaging our strategy: Creates and delivers effective presentations to a senior audience.  Socializes ideas and rapidly iterates on feedback to ensure the maximum buy-in and impact of the strategic message. Is a compelling storyteller to gain support on the strategy.

Planning: Demonstrates an Agile mindset to collaborate and drive results across the Data Office, our DAE partners along with our business partners/stakeholders.  Joins discussions at the right level to gain support and collect enough information in order to tie together data needs into common themes. These will then feed into our program priorities based on the value and urgency this work needs to be delivered.

Tracking Our Strategy: Assists stakeholders in defining metrics that are impactful to the business. Owns the process in order to collect, and report out monthly progress to these metrics. Emphasizing the need to deliver value to the business and ensure these metrics assist in that messaging.

Responsibilities

  • Under limited direction, prototypes/develops data solutions of high complexity to meet the needs of the organization and business customers.
  • Designs proof-of-concept solutions utilizing an advanced understanding of multiple coding languages to meet technical and business requirements, with an ability to perform iterative solution testing to ensure specifications are met.
  • Acts as a technical guide and mentor for lower level associates.
  • Designs and develops data solutions that enables effective self-service data consumption, and can describe their value to the customer.
  • Assists stakeholders in defining metrics that are impactful to the business.
  • Prioritize efforts based on customer value.
  • Has a strong understanding of Agile techniques.
  • Can set expectations for deliverables of high complexity.
  • Works with IT to help scale prototypes.
  • Maintains proof-of-concepts and prototype data solutions, and handles any assessment of their viability and scalability, with own team or in partnership with IT.
  • Working with IT, assists in building robust systems focusing on long-term and ongoing maintenance and support.
  • Ensures data solutions include deliverables required to achieve high quality data.
  • Display a basic understanding of complex multi-tier, multi-platform systems, and applies principles of metadata, lineage, business definitions, compliance, and data security to project work.
  • Has a strong understanding of Business Intelligence tools, including visualization and user experience techniques.
  • Can set expectations for deliverables of high complexity.
  • Works with IT to help scale prototypes.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of new technologies as needed to progress initiatives.
