Your Impact
At the heart of Handshake product development is a student-focused culture led by data scientists and engineers. This is a high-impact position where you will build — from end-to-end — the very products that democratize opportunity by enabling those users to find great jobs. We know that connecting students with jobs and employers can be so much more than string matching buzzwords in resumes and job descriptions. If you want to make a mark on both our organization and the job search experience for millions of students while growing as a data science leader, then this role is for you.
Your Role
Find the signal in the noise and turn massive datasets into rich, relevance-enabling feature sets. Employ Natural Language Processing and feature engineering techniques to turn relatively unstructured data sources like job descriptions into “matchable” hiring criteria.
Provide technical leadership to a growing team of curious and highly motivated data scientists.
Be a tactful and effective partner to product managers; help design and analyze experiments and proactive analyses that drive key product decisions and unlock invaluable insights.
Be an ambassador for data-driven product development at Handshake. Present your research, including metric development and measurement methodologies to all levels of the company, clearly and concisely.
Your Experience:
Knowledge of machine learning practices with a focus on topics such as search and relevance, recommender systems, natural language processing, and/or Data Science concepts related to e-commerce (e.g. lifetime value, net incremental revenue, churn)
Experience working directly with cross-functional teams such as leadership, product management, engineering, and design
Experience using modern analytics tools such as Python, R, Spark, BigQuery, Snowflake, etc.
Ability to start, own and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance
Excellent communication skills — ability to succinctly communicate results and tell compelling stories with data to any audience (e.g. presenting findings and deep-dives to senior leadership)
Compensation Range:
$141,345 - $195,000
