Ontra is seeking a Senior Manager of Data Science reporting directly to our Director of Data.
The Senior Manager, Data Science role is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop a world class team, build strong stakeholder relationships and drive tremendous growth of Ontra using data insights.
A successful candidate will be adept at translating ambiguous business problems into analytical questions, highly comfortable with change, and motivated to drive the implementation of initiatives based on data insights.

What you’ll do

Drive Results: You are able to tie data science projects to business problems, and, where possible drive the implementation of initiatives based on data insights

Breaking down projects: Data work takes time, you are able to effectively break down long projects into shorter milestones that allow you to bring your stakeholders along the way whilst guaranteeing you build data products of the highest quality.

Resilience: You will hear “no” a lot, but when you do, this motivates you to find new solutions or quickly re-prioritize so that you are always focussing on what projects drive the most impact.

What you’ll bring

Team: 3+ years managing a data team, with a focus on helping the team reach their career goals, and fostering an environment of impact driven initiatives.

Results Driven: Track record of leading teams towards measurable impact. The ability to showcase the alignment between company objectives and team actions, demonstrating how strategic goals influenced specific outcomes.

Adaptability: Able to support the team through change. There will be a lot of it, and will involve growing a culture of bi-directional feedback, being ok with more constant and rapid change, and opening up mindsets to different ways of working.

Technical: Fluency in Python and SQL, deep understanding of analytical methodologies and statistics (experimentation, regression, ML), experience with developing product metrics, and passion for NLP.
