Job Title: Senior Strategy and Planning Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY

We are building “the navy seals” of business operations & strategy. A small team that can do everything from operational strategy & analysis to implementation. The BizOps & Strategy team is the connective tissue within the company and bridges longer term strategy with near-term execution. We play multiple roles: decision support for the leadership team, analytical support for functional teams, owning the operating cadence, and shape-shifting to fill gaps based on business needs.

This is a small but mighty team that will be responsible for tackling Velocity Global’s most important strategic questions and getting the executive team access to whatever levers are needed to move the company forward.

As a lead analyst, you will serve as a go-to person for leaders on critical questions and will coordinate, and execute business-impacting initiatives spanning several pillars and teams. You will need to solve for competing priorities (growth, efficiency, quality, to name a few) and consider various stakeholders.

This role will:

• Run point on key cross-functional initiatives to identify and quantify growth opportunities and operational improvements, design pragmatic solutions, and persuade varying audiences.

• Partner with functional teams to provide analytical inputs to their decision making, perform deep dives, create business cases and evaluate performance.

• Identify and triage multiple priorities, issues, and roadblocks facing the company using your experience leveraging data for business impact.

• Balance long and short term engagements, and proactively deep dive into data, identify and quantify opportunities, and design sustainable improvements and solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Synthesize business trends and insights: Collaborate with cross functional partners to uncover insights and recommend actionable next steps to executives

• Identify areas of outsized impact through quantitative analysis, competitive research, creative taking an objective view

• Independently lead data extraction, analysis, visualization, and presentation

• Dive deep to understand the inner workings of a complex business

• Synthesize lots of data from various sources into easy to understand briefings to settle on priorities

• Write SQL queries, build dashboards in Looker, and conduct deep dives to empower business leaders to make effective decisions

• Document our data, ensure data accuracy, and create/improve data sets to meet our data needs 

• Partner with data engineering and other stakeholders to improve our data

• You’ve worked as an analyst in a fast paced and complex business environment (data analytics, product analytics, business analytics, or business intelligence)

• You are entrepreneurial – you like fast paced startup environments, you crave responsibility and want to shape the vision and direction of the company

• You can balance an understanding of the key drivers of the business with the analytical rigor necessary to move the business forward quickly

• Your communication & presentation skills allow you to explain complex analytical findings to audiences at all levels of the organization.

• A structured thinker with a strong process orientation who can determine root cause and develop systems solutions beyond the project level

• You have Excel experience (can perform complex functions and modeling) and basic SQL knowledge (or a willingness to learn it)

• You are proactive, can handle ambiguity, and doesn’t need to be micromanaged

• You are a positive-sum & low-ego team player

• You are collaborative and inquisitive in nature

• You have experience with operations-heavy tech companies
