We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our newly formed Data Delivery team! Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will own our end-to-end data pipeline to deliver our data to the platform as fast and reliably as possible. On the BenchSci Data Delivery team, you will work with a group of talented and passionate engineers as you play a crucial role in shaping the future of scientific discovery and progress. 

You Will:

    • Be integral to the formation of the Data Delivery team and contribute to setting its future scope and direction
    • Scale data pipelines to allow our data to go from research to platform as fast as possible
    • Collaborate with ML and Data engineers to solve complex document mining challenges, enabling us to capture and model additional scientific experiments
    • Manage sources that contain both semi-structured and unstructured data
    • Apply state-of-the-art data processing engines to process our data sets rapidly
    • Employ best practices for a broad platform of technologies within a cloud-based environment
    • Provide troubleshooting analysis and resolution promptly
    • Work on projects involving some of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world
    • Solve complex problems and bring new perspectives to the team
    • Have opportunities to work both independently and in pair-programming settings 

You Have:

    • 1+ years of experience working as a professional developer
    • A passion for automation, testing, and building reliable systems
    • Experience with Python and SQL
    • Strong cross-team communication and collaboration skills

Nice to haves, but not mandatory qualifications:

    • Work or academic experience in the life sciences 
    • Experience with Google Workflows in production
    • Experience with BigQuery
    • Experience with Infrastructure-as-code 
    • Experience with technical design and applying architectural patterns
    • Experience with statistical analysis of large datasets
