We are seeking a dynamic, analytic, and self-starting individual to join the Commercial Healthcare and Life Sciences (HCLS) team in our Health Business Unit. The HCLS business development and delivery team focuses on expanding Mathematica’s research, digital, data, and advisory services offerings with clients across the commercial healthcare and life sciences markets. The team is dynamic and engages in both proactive and RFP business development opportunities. This team also leads project delivery engagements with Commercial clients, providing the full 360-degree view of our clients’ needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Business Development
    • Contribute to customer solutioning activities for demos and other technical demonstrations to meet prospective client needs
    • Support the business development team in documenting technical requirements for ‘art of the possible’ solutioning for business development activities
    • Participate as a subject matter expert regarding the utilization of Mathematica’s data assets to help solve client challenges
  • Project Delivery
    • Document technical requirements for project engagements and communicate those requirements effectively to the project team, be the liaison between the client and project teams
    • Serve as a subject matter expert to clients on the applicability of Mathematica’s data as a service offering to meet their analytic and business goals
    • Develop technical specifications and collaborate with programmers and data scientists to build the solution following industry best practices for code development
    • Lead the development of dashboards and other visualization assets for client deliverables
    • Contribute to the development of slide decks and other final presentation materials for client deliverables
    • Mentor junior project delivery staff working in the Commercial HCLS portfolio

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, data science, statistics, systems engineering, or similar degree; equivalent professional experience without a degree will be considered
  • 5+ years of experience in documenting and communicating technical specifications, data asset management, and data visualization development
  • Familiarity with industry standard data strategy and governance processes
  • Demonstrated experience in healthcare claims data as well as at least two other real world evidence data sources (e.g., electronic health record data, biometric monitoring data, lab data, social media data, etc.)
  • Expertise in creating value for clients through delivery of services in areas like research and evaluation, advisory consulting, data analytics, and/or digital lifecycle development.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Ability to apply technology to provide solutions for decision makers regarding complex policy issues
  • Possess Professional Cloud certifications (e.g., GCP, AWS, Microsoft) or willingness to be certified within the first four months of starting employment at Mathematica
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills


This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $100,000 - $130,000. This position may be eligible for an annual bonus, based on company and individual performance. We are not working with staffing agencies to fill this position, and we are not accepting unsolicited resumes from agencies.

Various federal agencies with whom we contract require that staff successfully undergo a background investigation or security clearance as a condition of working on the project. If you are assigned to such a project, you will be required to obtain the requisite security clearance.
