Cortex is a group of Machine Learning (ML) researchers, engineers, and scientists working together to improve Twitter by enabling sophisticated and ethical AI. We empower internal teams to efficiently use Machine Learning by providing a platform and modeling expertise, and unifying, educating, and advancing the state-of-the-art in ML technologies within Twitter. Cortex Signals is one of 3 pillars in Cortex. Our mission is to extract value from Twitter data. We apply machine learning expertise in various areas including NLP, Computer Vision, Topic modeling, Knowledge Graphs and partner closely with various product teams. We apply and advance state of the art ML techniques in these domains to invent and build new models and systems that can be used to improve various Twitter experiences for our customers.
Strategy & Operations is a high impact, high visibility team whose mission is to drive strategic alignment and operational improvements across the company. We partner with product and engineering leadership to promote strategic decision-making and efficient execution of the corporate strategy, thereby enabling robust organizations that deliver on Twitter’s purpose to serve the public conversation.
What You’ll Do:
You will report to the Head of Cortex Strategy & Operations, and own and drive Machine Learning Signals operational excellence, while also helping shape strategies. You will partner heavily with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, ML Technical Leads, and ML Engineers. Additionally you will:
Lead effective organizational change of strategy and operational norms to improve overall internal and external impact.
Drive and orchestrate the overall quarterly and company-wide planning processes.
Drive e2e processes aimed at improving productivity, execution and outcomes in areas such as but not limited to: goal definition, goal tracking, defining and tracking key business metrics to measure success, setting up appropriate communication mechanisms and owning org-level communication, operational excellence, innovation, diversity, promotions
Drive operational excellence across the entire org in service to Twitter’s ML and Company priorities.
Own and drive an internal knowledge-sharing and knowledge-management program and system in partnership with S&O peers.
Identify and execute ad-hoc strategic projects - everything from defining new opportunities to executing cross-functional initiatives - aimed at improving how we build.
Bring key insights and trusted independent advice; service as a consultant and trusted advisor.
Who You Are:
The ideal candidate has experience working closely with a variety of cross-functional specialists and leaders. Has a high level of business sense, super-human problem-solving skills, the ability to work collaboratively across teams and organizations undergoing large-scale change.
Understanding of how centralized organizations can effectively drive company results.
Confident in conversations with ML engineers, researchers, product managers, HR, recruiting, sourcing, legal, policy and finance teams.
Problem solver and strategic partner who is comfortable using frameworks and data to help structure the team's thinking and solve multi-faceted problems.
Experienced cross-functional leader with a track record partnering with ML teams to define strategy and requirements.
Extensive experience leading sophisticated cross-functional initiatives, adept at driving cross-functional teams to make strategic decisions and execute.
Thrive amid ambiguity, able to influence peers / managers toward shared vision and to get things done
