Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. Data Analyst!

About the role

As the Sr. Data Analyst you'll conduct exploratory data analysis and convey results. Using deep technical and business expertise, you will deliver actionable insights to improve Symetra services. Additionally, you'll through ambiguity and partner with internal teams to directly influence product roadmaps and implementation.

You will provide detailed analysis of pertinent data and critical metrics to provide real-time insights into ongoing projects and organizational performance for the Stop Loss line of business.

The Sr. Data Analyst will work closely with analytics engineers, department leads, and leaders to improve access to impact data.

Responsibilities

  • Build an extensive understanding of Symetra products, its customers, data infrastructure, and business goals.
  • Analyze and queries sophisticated, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources using a variety of tools and data analysis techniques.
  • Mentor junior Analytics team members
  • Apply extensive knowledge to capitalize on business intelligence opportunities. Proficient in taking a set of requirements and converting them into a plan for delivery.
  • Use understanding of collaborator perspectives to plan out and facilitate meetings and presentations that keep analytics projects moving forward
  • Partner with analytics engineers to ingest new data sources and provide data modeling requirements for data foundation.
  • Proactively find opportunities to enhance quality of existing data elements and to digitize/collect new data sources that could improve decision making.
  • Understand business performance as well as answer product and business questions to drive business actions.
  • Expand Power BI capabilities, enhance existing dashboards, and provide diagnostic analytics for the Stop Loss product line
  • Integrate insights into processes, measure results, and drive action to help champion data driven culture

Salary Range: $88,600k- 147,600k plus eligibility for annual bonus program.

Your experience and skills

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and/or 5+ years of equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficient with programming languages like SQL, Python, and/or R.
  • Ability to understand and interpret imperfect data.
  • Experience with data modeling and working with large-scale data
  • Proficiency with BI visualization tool (Power BI preferred)
  • Collaborator management experience. Comfortable addressing senior leadership
  • Excellent communicator with superior written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Acute comfort in ambiguous, fast-paced environment
