This position is within Global Digital Services (GDS) where we lead and enable Liberty’s technology direction, supporting our business needs to operate remotely and collaborate globally. Our purpose is to advance the business by delivering secure, differentiated products and services that enable employees to work effectively and provide exceptional customer experiences. GDS Strategy & Planning is actively searching for a Senior or Principal Data Engineer to join our Data Experience team.
This is a range posting and the description is posted as a Grade 18, Principal Data Engineer. However, candidates will be considered for a Grade 17 Sr. Data Engineer role. The actual internal level/grade for this role will depend on the candidate’s overall experience and skill level.
Responsibilities
- Designs and develops programs and tools to support ingestion, curation and provisioning of complex enterprise data to achieve analytics, reporting, and data science.
- Identifies process improvements that address complex technology gaps within a single business process.
- Provides successful deployment and provisioning of data solutions to production or other required environments.
- Designs and builds data provisioning workflows/pipelines, physical data schemas, extracts, data transformations, and data integrations and/or designs and builds data architecture and applications that enable reporting, analytics, data science, and data management and improve accessibility, efficiency, governance, processing, and quality of data.
- Lead a team of data professionals through technical guidance and mentorship.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Bachelor or Master`s degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience, technical degree preferred
- Generally 8+ years of professional experience
- Experience developing cloud-based, database/warehouse technology solutions.
- Knowledge of a variety of data platforms/tools such as AWS technologies, CloudForge/ Bamboo, API Gateways, Azure, and Snowflake.
- Experience working with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP) and cross-functional teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Engineers).
- Expert in data technologies, techniques, and languages like Python, Java Script/ Typescript, and SQL.
- Experience with build/deploy automation & DevOps frameworks.
- Must be team oriented with strong collaboration, prioritization, and adaptability skills required.
Desired Skills:
- Excited by trying new technology and learning new tools.
- Understanding of Cloud data architecture concepts.
- Data Modeling experience.
