About the Role

We are hiring a Senior Staff Scientist for Forecasting to lead our forecasting strategy and execution across Chime.  This role will report directly to the Chief Data Officer, and will engage with many teams: all of Data – Analytics, Data Science, ML Platform, Data Engineering, and our partners, including Finance, Marketing, Product, Risk, Member Services, and Strategy.

In this role, you will lead development of our most critical forecasts, which includes guiding analysts, data scientists, and platform engineers in the delivery of forecasts and infrastructure to support forecasting efforts. This role will involve execution, strategy, partnership, architecture, mentoring, and more, in support of Chime’s mission to help everyday people achieve financial peace of mind, together.

This role can be remote, with regular engagement with teams based in San Francisco, CA.

In this role, you can expect to

  • Guide strategy and technical roadmaps for delivery of forecasts and their technical dependencies, including forecasting platforms, data engineering, and more.
  • Effectively communicate and partner with senior leadership and the executive team on a regular basis
  • Guide investments in forecasting technology and practice to accelerate and improve our ability to anticipate the future, as well as to learn quickly when reality and predictions diverge.
  • Develop new initiatives to cultivate best practices and skills development across the organization, and demonstrate those expectations in your own work.

To thrive in this role, you have

  • Advanced degree with concentration in Statistics, Operations Research, Econometrics, or related areas
  • 10+ years of industry experience, with at least 5+ years of experience in forecasting, including experience with time series modeling and analysis, scenario modeling, and planning. Leadership of impactful and enduring forecasting efforts is expected.
  • Substantial experience in analytics, technical leadership, and are a practical problem solver, able to work with technical and non-technical partners
  • Experience guiding technical best practices, leading cross-functional technical initiatives, and experience working with platform engineering and data engineering partners
  • A passion for how forecasting can help deliver a better future
