We are seeking a Staff Reporting Programmer to join our team and help us achieve our ambitious growth goals for our business and the planet.

As the Staff Reporting Programmer, you will develop your experience in Uplight’s products and act as the technical team lead for the Reporting team across all product lines. You will provide the technical guidance and framework for the team to operate sustainably, scalably, and effectively, as well as represent the team when collaborating and communicating on technical topics with internal and external stakeholders. What you will contribute:
- Investigate and explore our diverse products and data sets to lead decision making for standardizing and automating reporting capabilities with tooling and processes
- Breakdown complex deliverables that can be turned into work products for the team
- Provide troubleshooting, system dependencies, and subsystem interaction
- Conduct technical research and share this knowledge for the benefit of the larger team
- Build out automation and tooling for recurring reports, including teaching and mentoring software engineering skills
- Manage your own workload, with strong input into what lands on your plate and flexibility on where, when, and how you do your work
- Drive architectural considerations for the team including technology adoption and application
- Work closely with a broad range of stakeholders, such as Engineering, Product, Implementation, Account Managers, and finance and accounting experts
What you bring to Uplight:
- 8+ years of personal, professional, and/or educational experience with one or more of our team's core tasks: accessing data, analyzing data, transforming data, packaging data into reports, and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Expert-level proficiency in three or more of the following:
- Python - Writing and reviewing programs or scripts with Python (other languages a plus)
- SQL (other structured query languages a plus)
- Automated tooling for data transformation and delivery
- Data manipulation in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent scoping and planning skills, with experience working within Agile framework a bonus
- Motivated to streamline current and new processes to automate repeated steps and increase efficiency
- Courage to dig into hard problems and experiment with simple, elegant solutions
- Patient, communicative, team player who is detail-oriented and has outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across multiple time-zones and communication platforms
- A strong desire to lead and share your knowledge and skills through your work to grow the collective strength of the team
- Compassion, empathy, self-awareness, and team spirit to support our clients and your fellow teammates
- Passion for our mission and the stories we can tell with the data we provide
Bonus Points:
- Experience with Looker, Tableau, or other Business Intelligence tools
- Experience in the utility industry or other heavily-regulated industries
- Experience handling personally identifiable information (PII)
- Experience managing direct reports or mentoring teammates
- Experience working on remote teams
- Experience working with APIs
- Application of industry security best practices
- Experience working with large data sets
- BS in Computer Science / Engineering, or demonstrable industry experience
- Experience with cloud infrastructure automation such as terraform,
- cloudformation or similar
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform or other cloud service provider
- Serverless architecture, preferably Google Cloud Functions
- You work on the command line confidently and are familiar with all the
- You are a Git guru and revel in collaborative workflows.

Salary Range: $95,000 to $120,000 USD
In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate annual base compensation range is listed above. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be determined by a number of factors including the applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
