The Enterprise Talent Solutions team at Upwork is helping craft the future of work, and we are looking for a dedicated Talent Manager to help grow talent pools for some of our most dynamic clients.

As a Talent Manager at Upwork, you will be a key partner within our Expert-Vetted program. The Expert-Vetted program identifies and vets the top 1% of talent on our marketplace for streamlined visibility and connections with our Enterprise, Fortune 500, and high-value Marketplace clients. 

This is a hybrid role that intersects recruiting, operations, and strategy. You will curate and manage a talent pool of potential candidates for valuable opportunities. You will help provide cross-functional direction to your teammates, in order to gather hard-to-find talent and pursue ambitious requests; and you will collaborate to discuss bottlenecks, brainstorm solutions, and provide updates on high priority client needs. You will also work with partners across the business within teams like Marketing, Product, Communications, and Sales to drive program initiatives and outcomes. 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Manage team pools by building relationships with and crafting communities of top talent by evaluating their profiles and skills while enabling their success on Upwork
  • Bring a top-tier, subject-matter expert level on writing-based skill sets with the ability to identify and evaluate top-level talent within them
  • Develop prescriptive staffing solutions and strategies on various projects while retaining and building upon knowledge of emerging talent trends, skills, and language
  • Join client calls to discuss the Expert-Vetted program, or large-scale project initiatives
  • Manage talent requests to ensure that SLAs are met and that delivery expectations and are reasonably set
  • Develop a comprehensive, scalable, and effective talent acquisition and retention strategy
  • Help conceptualize, brainstorm, and guide Talent Management and Expert-Vetted Talent leaders to elevate and evolve our talent and client-centric programs
  • Support and guide cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Analytics, Sales, Communications, etc.) where program services intersect

What it takes to catch our eye:

  • Expertise in recruitment for high-end talent within skills like machine learning, data visualization, and data engineering
  • You “nerd out” about AI tools like ChatGPT and the implications of how it can disrupt and advance the workforce
  • Familiarity with tools and softwares used within the Data Science & Analytics space
  • A demonstrated, robust track record in the world of recruitment within various industries for a diversified client portfolio from either agency or in-house roles
  • Have a robust understanding and capability to work with strict SLAs to support discerning clients simultaneously while collaborating with cross-functional partners
  • Have a bias towards action mentality and work ethic to contribute towards improving internal staffing strategies, cross-functional partnerships, client enablement, and procurement efforts
  • Excellent collaborative abilities across multi-functional teams and a proven record of influencing all levels of the organization
  • Experience utilizing data to make informed decisions 
  • Strong process analysis of both small and big picture initiatives

The annual base salary for this position in California and Washington ranges from $79,000 - 122,000. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position in California and Washington, and individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for the annual bonus plan or sales incentive plan and eligibility to participate in our long term equity incentive program.
