They will be a critical thinker with advanced problem solving, data mining, and data engineering skills that enables them to answer ambiguous questions in data that help leaders make great data driven decisions. The successful candidate will work with highly collaborative teams and have direct influence over data engineering roadmaps.

What you will do

  • Help Data Engineering & Analytics Leadership to develop and deliver long-term strategic Analytics goals, vision, standards and roadmap
  • Participate in developing technical / business solutions. Recommend the right tool and technology to deliver solutions objectively
  • Be responsible for developing project plans and monitoring progress against plan, ensuring on-time/on-budget in accordance with the project-specific requirements
  • Build and lead a direct reporting team, contractors, and several aligned teams, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skillset alignment to support the business and technology objectives
  • Manage implementation of modern processes and technologies for continuous improvement in software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Drive down technical debt, ensure that data pipelines are observable, scalable, reliable, and secure
  • Improve data quality and integrity
  • Drive adoption and standardization of data governance, lineage, cataloging, and stewardship practices across teams
  • Collaborate with internal business stakeholders, customers, vendors, and consultants to define information needs, develop business cases and priorities, and manage service levels
  • Conduct capacity planning, life cycle, duration, usage requirements, feasibility studies, and other tasks
  • Manage the change request process, estimating the impact of each change request on project schedule, budget, and resources; Provide communication to project stakeholders regarding change impact
  • Model a high-performance culture and cultivate an environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, learning, collaboration, and experimentation across data engineering and analytics department

What you will bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or Applied Science
  • 10+ years’ experience in Data Engineering and/or Software Engineering
  • Expertise in big data technologies like Databricks, Hadoop, Spark, Hive, etc.
  • Expertise in Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, Spotfire etc.
  • Strong coding skills in Python/Scala/SQL or equivalent
  • Expertise in SQL and Data analysis
  • Expertise in infrastructure as code and automating production data pipelines
  • Hands-on work in on-prem to cloud migration, preferably in Azure
  • Azure experience as it pertains to PaaS (Platform as a Service) offerings (Synapse, Data Lake, DataBricks, Data Factory, Event Hubs, CosmosDB, etc.)
  • Experience building, governing, and scaling data warehouses/lakes/lake houses
  • Adept with agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles
  • Excellent communication, presentation, leadership, problem-solving and analytical skills
