Who you are

You are looking for a challenging and rewarding experience. You are inspired by our vision and the opportunity to define a new category in an incredibly fast-growing market. You are excited to learn, grow and collaborate so we can achieve our mission of creating opportunity for all through mobility.

At HopSkipDrive, we know that challenges require different approaches, unique perspectives and new ways of thinking.  We are building a team of creative problem-solvers from many different backgrounds.

You thrive in a fast-paced startup environment. You are honest and exhibit high integrity. You are proactive and excited to bring new ideas to the company. You solicit feedback and are open to criticism. You adjust quickly to changes in priorities and conditions and cope effectively with complexity and change. You have high attention to detail.

As a Transportation Analyst you would be working special projects with our SVP, GM of General Education. You would be open to new and challenging problems.

What you'll do

  • Run the end-to-end strategic routing process for a group of clients
    • Pre-Model.  Walk clients through the intake form, collect feedback, customize it as necessary, help the client team extract data from their system and populate it, understand nuances in the data, clean it, ingest it into the input model.  Depending on the client’s sophistication this may look like traveling to the client site, sitting next to a router and helping them find/export the right data.
    • Model.  Translate district priorities into model values, run the model, evaluate the output, adjust the inputs, iterate, share out preliminary results with internal and external stakeholders, adjust again based on feedback, put together “final” client-facing packaged output and present.
    • Post-Model.  Adjust and re-run the model as a district gets new information or new layers of feedback and support a wide range of  implementation initiatives, whatever it takes for the client to be successful (e.g. support routing team review, support gathering data on which students actually need a ride, etc.)
  • Based on business needs, skills, interests support a wide range of other workstreams for the business to succeed.  This may include things like contributing to board or pitch decks, supporting the core development of the technology, building new visualizations for the output, participating in cross-functional working teams, and much much more
  • Scope and develop data products in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders. For example: create clean data sources, build dashboards, evaluate product experiments
  • Perform in depth analysis to understand business dynamics, with a particular focus on the enterprise side of the HopSkipDrive marketplace
  • Build and improve on existing reporting, thus empowering coworkers to make informed decisions and track their performance

What you bring

  • 3-5+ years in an analytics role.  More general the better but OK if specific to a function (e.g. marketing, sales, ops, etc.)
  • Ideal if in a consulting or startup environment but not necessary
  • Excel.  Intermediate/advanced. 8+ out of 10.  Most of the data cleaning and a good part of the analysis can take place in Excel/Sheets.  Need someone who can fluently use formulas and other features to transform data and cut it in various ways.  As it relates to operations, the need is very similar, with perhaps more of an emphasis on building reusable models and data operations tools. But many of those underlying skills are identical.
  • A passion to work in a data-driven culture with modern self-service data tools
  • 2+ years experience using modern tools for data wrangling, reporting, and visualization
  • Experience with business modeling and workflows
  • Technical proficiency in Tableau, Excel, Google Sheets, and SQL
  • Strong communication skills are a must, especially story-telling with data
  • Ability to thrive under uncertain or changing circumstances
  • Agile development and start-up experience preferred
