Georgetown’s Office of Assessment and Decision Support (OADS) was established in 2011, bringing together and expanding upon the functions of the former Office of Planning and Institutional Research with additional analytical and assessment-related elements to strengthen the connection between assessment of student learning and institutional assessment.
Job Overview
The Assistant Director, Data Management/Senior Data Scientist independently leads a data management and business intelligence strategy for OADS. The position performs advanced project and data management work in a wide range of activities that ensure the uniformity, accuracy, and consistency of enterprise data through the application of effective data management, security, stewardship, and governance processes. This position serves as an institutional knowledge leader on data management and governance as it relates to official internal/external data reporting at Georgetown.
They help University executives, academics and administrators obtain the information they need to predict outcomes and support decisions and initiatives; and oversee the creation of architecture, ETL processes, software development, and data collections within OADS, and help to architect campus-wide solutions in partnership with UIS. As well, they conceptualize and lead projects that investigate and resolve data integrity issues; provide ongoing consultation to OADS staff regarding data management and the design of digital reporting tools; and play a key role in surveys and course evaluations, developing data processes and integrations that ensure seamless data collection and management.
The Assistant Director, Data Management/Senior Data Scientist serves as a liaison between OADS and UIS, as well as the Data Governance Advisory Committee (DGAC), working to ensure that OADS and its partners are represented in University-wide data warehousing, business intelligence, data virtualization, and data analytics projects.
The Assistant Director functions with substantial discretion, managing the response to frequent and numerous requests for from various offices within Georgetown; and spearheads the development of technically-advanced data science and analytics projects for the University.
As well, they collaborate with OADS and Office of the Provost leadership to set the overall strategy for institutional analytics and data-informed decision making across the University; and is a key partner in designing information solutions for the academic leadership of the University.

Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President of Institutional Data Analytics, the Assistant Director and Senior Data Analyst is a member of the OADS leadership team and supervises one or more graduate student employees. Other interactions include:
