The Community You Will Join:

The Marketing FP&A, Strategic Finance & Analytics team provides budget oversight, reporting, strategic planning and analytical decision-making support to the global Marketing, Design, Localization and Consumer Insights teams. This team is specifically responsible for owning operating expenses, headcount management, budget management and reporting, monthly forecast and close, controllership and finance process improvement/automation.

The Difference You Will Make:

The Associate Principal, Marketing Strategic Finance & Analytics will report to the Director, Marketing Strategic Finance. Airbnb is looking for a rockstar finance & analytics individual who can support and evolve our Airbnb’s Strategic Finance & Analytics team. This team is responsible for identifying and managing budget, planning and analytics for the Marketing organization. Its charter is to evolve our growth strategy across Host and Guest communities. The Marketing team is responsible for driving growth of new guests and hosts on the platform by engaging with relevant target audiences through product and performance campaigns (e.g., social, Google).

The individual will work with cross functional teams spanning marketing operations, data science, finance, marketing strategy, and product marketing to help evaluate and synthesize analytical insights, perform rigorous financial analysis, develop go-to-market strategies, and drive operational excellence.  The individual is expected to be a strong cross-functional business partner who has a combination of hands-on analytical skills, financial modeling expertise, business savviness, and the ability to package their insights into strong narratives appropriate for senior executive consumption. The ideal candidate relishes the opportunity to roll-up their sleeves to drive meaningful impact, possess strong stakeholder management skills, and is a self-starter that is comfortable with ambiguity in a fast paced work environment.

This person will have a high degree of visibility with senior management within the organization, including VP of Marketing, Head of Growth Marketing, and Finance leadership.

A Typical Day: 

  • Investment Approach: Support strategy discussions on spend allocation & pacing between Finance and Marketing leadership
  • Budget Tracking: Partner with Financial Operations to track Marketing media and production budgets in order to inform strategic allocations
  • Target Setting: Establish KPI framework for marketing channels and campaigns. Set and monitor KPI targets, OKRs, and efficiency goals 
  • ROI Evaluation: Develop ROI calculation methodologies with DS and Research, and lead holistic campaign reviews - accounting for qualitative and quantitative impacts
  • Reporting: Support weekly reporting needs from Marketing and Hosting orgs as well as quarterly campaign performance reviews
  • Analytical Deep Dives: Conduct deep dives into business trends and drivers of variance. Independently lead data extraction, analysis, visualization, and presentation. 
  • Strategic Support: Partner with Marketing, Product Marketing and Hosting leadership to develop strategy and support business performance

Your Expertise:

  • 7+ years of relevant business and analytics experience. Ideally you have a mix of financial planning, management consulting, and/or analytics experience
  • Technical experience. financial analysis and modeling skills, SQL experience preferred
  • Ability to work and influence cross-functionally. You will need to partner across internal (marketing, data science, finance) and external partners - proactively facilitating connections between teams
  • Strong communication skills with audiences at various analytical levels. You enjoy working with large data sets and synthesizing it into a story with recommendations

Preferred experience working within marketing ecosystem (e.g., media agency, content providers, or brands) and familiarity with marketing channels and KPIs, acquisition funnel analysis, campaign effectiveness evaluation

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

Pay Range

$140,000—$165,000 USD
