The Location
This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. We’re looking for a leader and manager to build an analytics team for the Payments organization. This person will work with Analytics Managers in other parts of Global Operations, as we build customer journeys across the broader data community within Airbnb. This person will work with business leaders to identify questions that may be addressed with data, and build and manage a team to provide the information needed for decisions.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Build and manage a team of deep domain experts in analytics to support Insurance products for our guests and hosts
- Meet with executive stakeholders and leaders to identify business issues, and deliver data and information to enable decision making
- Work with partner analytics leaders to identify and prioritize business needs in data, across Global Operations (GO)
- Actively participate in business discussions, providing insight that can support decision making
- Work with data/research professionals across the company to build scalable processes for developing cross-channel insights.
- Mentor and guide CS Insights staff in prioritizing, sequencing, delivering and communicating insights to CS and broadly across
- Act as a thinking partner and coach for managers who are providing insights, recommendations and enabling data informed decisions.
- Contribute towards advancing the Analytics and Data Science disciplines at Airbnb, including driving data best practices such as improving and automating analytical processes, building new data tools and data sets, data education around the company and mentoring and developing data folks.
Tactical Responsibilities
- Day to day management of highly skilled individual contributors
- Empower the team to answer data questions quickly and easily by building high-quality ground truth data sets and dashboards
- Implement and monitor metrics, trends and dimensions to enable business decision making; highlight anomalies and detect issues quickly
- Develop standards and processes for maintaining a single source of data and information for Insurance products
- Provide product, process or operational analytics, as needed
- Support other company initiatives and functions as requested
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in analytics leadership and and deep understanding of analytics methodologies
- 5+ years as a leader and people manager in a Data Science or Analytics function
- Advanced degree in a quantitative field
- Knowledge and experience in Insurance processes, systems and tools - preferred
- Knowledge and experience in risk/compliance processes and data needs - preferred
- Experience coaching a team on effective storytelling, analysis design, data & visualization techniques, and tying insights to bigger-picture strategy.
- Expert communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with internal teams in a cross-cultural and cross-functional environment. Experience working directly with executives
- Experience partnering with internal teams to drive results and providing expertise and direction on analytics, data science, experimental design, and measurement
- Experience working with data science and data engineering experts.
- Statistical knowledge and ability to guide the team to perform analysis using advanced techniques when needed, including linear models, multivariate analysis, sampling methods, and causal inference. Knowledge of when to use which statistical approaches, and drawbacks of possible methodologies.
- Proven ability to communicate and influence stakeholders with data and information, providing a cohesive set of insights.
The Pay
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base pay for this role is between $205,000 and $255,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
