About the department

Cloudflare’s IT/Enterprise Engineering, Planning and Governance Team is a crucial pillar of the CIO Organization. It manages programs and initiatives across IT Infrastructure, Enterprise Systems, and Enterprise Engineering to enable Cloudflare internal teams to operate most efficiently. The team establishes end-to-end governance principles and frameworks, leads business partnering, drives program planning, execution and demand capacity management.

This role supports the growth of the IT Planning and Governance initiatives, and focuses on documentation, system compliance and continuous improvement.  This role calls for you to understand how data-driven changes to processes can improve efficiencies and add value. You must be able to articulate those ideas and balance them against what’s technologically feasible and financially and functionally reasonable.

  • Leads the documentation and processes standardization across IT Governance
  • Use data analytics to assess processes, determine requirements and deliver data-driven recommendations and reports to executives and stakeholders.
  • Uses analytical skills to create data models, providing forecasts, data insights or retrospective analysis on key implementations.
  • Work with management and IT Business Partners in the planning, analysis and generation of the annual project plan for large-scale IT initiatives.
  • Standardizes and updates documentation for IT compliance, including narratives, process flowcharts, risk and controls matrix;  evaluate controls as new systems are developed and/or process changes                                                                                                                                                                                                                 
  • Collaborates with IT Operations, Procurement, Enterprise Applications and Engineering to understand, evaluate, and improve processes and internal controls
  • Works with IT Business Partners / Product Managers to identify any gaps in existing applications and upcoming system roadmap to meet compliance requirements
  • Closely collaborates with Technical Program Managers to ensure compliance and proper documentation during system implementation
  • Helps facilitate, prepare, and monitor IT compliance milestones in alignment with IT governance calendar
  • Surveys internal customers for feedback and adjusts activities accordingly in support of IT governance deliverables
  • Works with process owners to identify key controls; establishes and updates compliance narratives to be current and consistent
  • Monitor deficiencies resulting from compliance testing and the adequacy of remediation effort

Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as information systems, computer science, business, finance or accounting
  • 5+ year of experience
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, familiar with Coda or similar data modeling software a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to operate in a cross cultural and complex matrix environment with the ability to deliver consensus across functions.
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving
  • Detail-oriented and capable of delivering a high level of accuracy
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Ability to optimize value for the corporation by continuously searching for opportunities in process improvements
  • Ability to work in a highly organized and efficient manner, and a driver that can take projects to completion in a timely manner
  • Flexible, “special-projects” orientation coupled with solid multi-tasking abilities
  • Familiarity with business process risks and controls is a plus

Compensation

Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.

  • For Colorado-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $80,000 - $98,000.
  • For New York City-based and California (excluding Bay Area) and Washington hires: Estimated annual salary of $95,000 - $116,000.
  • For Bay Area-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $100,000 - $122,000.
