The Esntial eCommerce Analytics Team at Cox Automotive is looking for top talent who are excited to reimagine the way people buy and sell cars online and who want to advance the way it’s done through the power of data and advanced analytics.
The Business Intelligence Developer (Senior Data Analyst) is part of the Business Intelligence Tools team, reporting into Manager of Business Intelligence Reporting. In this role, you will collaborate with key business stakeholders across the organization such as Sales, Business Operations and Product Marketing to hold discovery sessions, gather requirements, build and deliver Advanced Analytics tools and self-service reporting to advance the goals of the eCommerce business.
Part Business Analyst and part Developer, you will use your curiosity and collaboration expertise to define outcome-based requirements that enable quick insights and clear direction on optimization opportunities. You will use your estimation and time management skills to focus your stakeholders on what matters the most to be able to deliver iterative solutions in a fast-paced environment. All the while, your capabilities will be used across a growing client base and to drive eCommerce outcomes in a highly visible part of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Discovery & Requirements Shaping:

Performs self-guided research to determine solution options and tradeoffs based on current data model and future product feature enhancements.

Partners with key business stakeholders and Analytics Consultants to complete analysis necessary to define key actions and outcomes the business is looking to drive or inform. Works with business experts to prioritize key features into a set of initial requirements and an iterative enhancement backlog.
Report Development and Management:

Create and iteratively enhance report prototypes fit for Performance Management using Tableau and / or Power BI.

Develop Tableau visualizations to support organization, balancing speed with scalability and business needs.

Curate and maintain custom dashboards and reporting to provide actionable insights and recommendations meeting the needs of various business audiences.

Uphold visual analytics best practices and create stunning, highly-performant, user-friendly Tableau and/or Power BI interactive dashboards and reports fit for business use.

Monitor and maintain workbooks hosted on Tableau Cloud. This includes setting refresh schedules, monitoring usage, diagnosing issues, and improving performance as needed.

Participate in agile scrum routines and deliver in an agile scrum framework.
Training & Communication:
-
Create self-service training resources for business users such as metrics glossary, FAQs and How To one-pagers fit for a business audience.

Create and manage launch communications at time of feature release, highlighting key benefits and on-boarding steps.

Demo the new features to key business users during sprint reviews and other formal routines.

Collaborate with Knowledge Base partners such as Sales Trainers to incorporate training assets into their programs and increase Business User adoption of Business Intelligence Tools.
Fostering Visual Analytics / Educating / Troubleshooting

Assist with Tableau Cloud administration, including monitoring environments, diagnosing problems, and repairing issues in a timely manner.

Intake and proactively troubleshoot reported defects and outages. Partner with the Manager to clearly communicate defect resolution and root cause analysis findings and impacts.

Onboard Analytics Users to the Tableau software and assist with licensing and governance.

Create and improve resources and documentation on the Business Intelligence Tools available to business users.
Data Maintenance

Partner with the Data Orchestration team to ensure all data requirements are met and data sources have been optimized for dashboard performance.

Execute test plans and perform QA to assure the functionality and data integrity of reporting and dashboard solutions.
Remote role, Eastern Time Zone working hours.
Up to 5% travel required.
Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4 years experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2 years experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years experience in a related field.

Must have expertise in leading requirements discovery workshops, creating business requirements documents and aligning teams to feature tradeoffs across an array of business stakeholders.

Must have expertise in building dashboards and monitoring reports in Tableau using blended data sources.

Expertise with writing SQL queries or altering existing code.

Must have hands on experience querying against at least one data warehouse software (Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, AWS Redshift or Snowflake).

Experience in performing root cause analysis, defect management and managing escalation communications.

Experience working to deliver within an agile scrum framework.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.

Must be able to work Eastern Time Zone hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
An ideal candidate will have a combination of Analytics consultancy experience or worked in an Analytics and Business Intelligence consulting capacity within a large organization.

Working experience using additional business intelligence tools (PowerBI, Microstrategy, Looker, Domo) is preferred.

Hands on experience navigating large, complex, and possibly disparate data sets using SQL within a data warehouse is preferred.

Strong analytical mindset.

Desired to have Automotive experience and understanding of Dealer and Consumer Metrics and Analytics.

Self-directed, driven, and enthusiastic. Has the ability to work in an ambiguous and fast paced start up environment.

Desired to have business acumen to influence stakeholders at various levels within the organization.

Strong teambuilding skills with demonstrated problem-solving abilities.

To be employed in this role, you'll need to clear a pre-employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a pre-employment drug test for marijuana for this position. Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $77,000.00 - $115,600.00. The salary rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's experience. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
