**PLEASE NOTE**  This is a contractor role. We will need someone for approximately 10-15 hours per week. That being said, there is potential for this position to convert to full-time someday, if the BI need is there.

The Role: As a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer, you will play a crucial role in transforming and enhancing our internal data infrastructure and reporting dashboards. Leveraging your expertise in data modeling and report development you will support Seer’s Leadership Team and account teams by expanding and optimizing data tables and dashboards. You will work closely with the BI Lead and our Operations Team, ensuring the dashboards provide insightful, granular data and secure, role-based access to stakeholders.

This contractor role requires an experienced BI Developer who can work autonomously, translating complex data needs into actionable, clear reporting. Hours are estimated at 10-15 per week, with flexibility based on project timelines.

Role Highlights

    • Below are some potential projects you will work on and the associated tasks related to those projects

    • Client Project Profitability:
    • Work with project management data from Wrike in our data warehouse to develop a data model that allows reporting project efficiency based on actual to budgeted time and revenue for client projects
    • Work with established data tables in dbt, develop new tables and models based off those tables and create new models that can be leveraged in new Power BI or Looker dashboards
    • Improve infrastructure of existing data models
    • Team Capacity Reporting:
    • Transform and optimize data models in dbt to include both client and non-client (internal) projects, providing a comprehensive view of our operational capacity
    • Incorporate task and deliverable-level reporting in Power BI, enhancing the ability to drill down and analyze data at a more granular level
    • Design, document, and implement model transformations that align with broader capacity management goals, ensuring the models remain efficient and scalable
    • Expand Power BI dashboards with advanced filtering and drill-down capabilities, allowing stakeholders to toggle between high-level and detailed views
    • Power BI to Looker Migration:
    • Collaborate with BI Lead on strategy for migration
    • Migrate some data sources to Google BigQuery in order to begin the migration process from Power BI to Looker for some dashboards
    • Data Security & Access Control:
    • Implement row-level security (RLS) in Power BI to ensure secure, role-based data access, protecting sensitive project data and individual performance metrics
    • Validate RLS configuration and document the framework for future maintenance, ensuring that only authorized personnel have access to appropriate data sections
    • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Participate in weekly check-ins with the BI lead to discuss progress, blockers, and potential optimization opportunities
    • Proactively communicate through Slack and other tools, providing regular updates and insights

Essential Skills

    • Advanced experience in Power BI or Looker, with a strong ability to develop and enhance data models and visualizations
    • Expertise in data transformation and modeling with dbt and SQL
    • Proven track record of implementing role-based data access, particularly using Power BI or Looker row-level security
    • Ability to interpret complex data requirements and deliver actionable, efficient reporting solutions
    • Able to investigate existing data models and reports to understand how they were built, create documentation for them and improve upon them if possible
    • Strong project management and communication skills and the ability to work independently while keeping stakeholders informed and involved
    • Attention to detail when it comes to documenting work on data models for shared use and reproduction

This might not be the right role for you if
