Data analytics engineer – Atlanta (Virtual/Remote/Anywhere)

As a data engineer at SBD GTS Digital, your primary role will be to develop and integrate with multiple database and backend services, creating reports and models to bring to the front hidden stories that are hidden within our data collected from the IoT devices, as well as, creating great dashboards to help our internal customers to understand how our customers use our products.  You’ll work with internal stakeholders, 3rd party technology partners, and in-house development to increase subject matter expertise and expand our connected product ecosystem.

What You’ll Do
As a Data analytics engineer for Smart Devices, you’ll be part of our GTS Digital team located in Atlanta GA. You’ll get to:

  • Engage with business stakeholders to analyze business processes, gather requirements, and recommend technical solutions.
  • Define data standards that will enable more efficient and effective decision making. 
  • Design, Engineer and Implement ETL solutions.
  • Develop, document and implement data analysis, analytics, and reporting solutions
  • Be forward thinking and lead strategy for data collection and implementation projects that advance our analytics practice
  • Support development of dashboards and models as it relates to connectivity and visualization of IOT data and devices 
  • Push the limits of SQL by working with the latest tech including Snowflake, NoSQL, Big Data, and JSON parsing.
  • Working with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to support their data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues.
  • Collaborate with various scrum teams and contribute to strengthening of DevOps and Agile methodologies to improve cycle times, consistency and quality
  • Collaborate with Data Lake, Data Integration and architects to tune and optimize services so that data is shared effectively across various business systems

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or equivalent field from a qualified institution.
  • Experience using source code management. 
  • 2+ years in designing and building with all aspects of cloud design, development, and implementation, experience with Global Query and analytics, including Jupyter Notebook and/or SageMaker
  • A good sense of humor and the ability to have fun with your work!
  • Experience with SQL (relational databases), key-value datastores, and document stores
  • Basic knowledge of AI & Data Science
  • Ability to define and create complex models to pull valuable insights, predictions and innovation from data.
  • Fluent in structured and unstructured data, its management, and modern data transformation methodologies.
  • Effectively and creatively tell stories and create visualizations to describe and communicate data insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate data insights and negotiate options at senior management levels. 
  • Programming experience with Python (Numpy, Scipy, Scikit-Learn, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, etc.), MATLAB, R, or similar languages
  • Microservices experience is strongly preferred
  • Must be familiar with Agile methodologies and able to work in an Agile manner
  • Must have a very strong application development background
