The Team
As a Data Analytics Senior Manager at Upstart, you will lead our personal loan data analytics team. You’ll be responsible for driving understanding, insights and decision making relating to our personal loan credit and financial performance. You’ll partner with our Capital Markets team and Lending Partnership team to help our investors & external partners (banks and credit unions) to take advantage of our unique technology to achieve their business goals.

Lead and develop a high performing team of analysts, provide coaching and technical guidance for the team

Develop vision, set roadmaps and lead execution for analytical frameworks and projects

Own personal loan credit analytics and financial analytics (e.g. loan cash flow modeling to support secondary sales / securitizations)

Partner with business, finance, product and machine learning teams, connecting requirements and implications and ensuring seamless cross-functional collaboration
Position location: This role is available in the following locations: Remote; San Mateo, CA
Time zone requirements: The team operates on the West coast time zones.
Travel requirements: This team has regular onsite collaboration sessions. These occur 5 days per month at the San Mateo CA, Columbus OH or Austin TX offices. If you need to travel to make these meetups, Upstart will cover all travel related expenses.
How you’ll make an impact

Engage with Capital Markets and Lending Partnership leads, and key external parties to build understanding of Upstart’s personal loan credit performance, and confidence to invest via our platform.

Partner across Machine Learning, Capital Markets, Lending Partnership, and Finance teams to define and execute a strategy to continuously improve our reporting and analytics capabilities.

Coach and develop a high performing team of analysts.
Minimum qualifications:
-
5+ years experience leading & developing medium (5+ person) teams of analysts and/or data scientists

Hands on experience with large datasets and complex financial modeling, using SQL to query data and performing analysis with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau or Power BI

Experience in credit analytics, valuation, and/or financial analytics

Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or other quantitative field
Preferred qualifications:

Ability to craft executive-ready narratives around complex business or performance topics, and to successfully influence and drive C-level decision-making

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and in deep partnership with cross-functional colleagues especially in Finance, Product, Data Engineering, ML teams

Skills to navigate and lead a team through periods with changing or competing priorities

Experience in consumer lending, and/or knowledge of the consumer finance market, capital markets
