Overview

Have you ever transformed billons of rows of data into clean resources? Do you want to? Data Engineering at Bungie gives you the opportunity to move data from game activity logs to transformed actionable insights.
As a Data Engineer Intern at Bungie, you will learn to develop and support robust data systems that scale with our games and internal processes. You will learn the nuances of data from various systems (gameplay, marketing, HR, etc.) and help transform that raw data into actionable insights. You will work daily with analysts, designers, and other engineers to understand how we can help to build experiences that our players want. Most importantly, you will work with a fun, collaborative team committed to making the amazing games!

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently enrolled in a U.S. college, university, or related program and returning to school in the fall upon conclusion of the internship
  • Available to work full-time for 12 weeks throughout the summer with a set May or June start date

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and enhance Python and SQL code to create an ELT pipeline in a cloud database environment
  • Use SQL to translate new and existing game features from business request to internal, actionable reporting resources
  • Learn to monitor, enhance, and add quality checks to a live data pipeline that processes millions of rows per day
  • Communicate with analysts, product managers, and designers about designed data models and how best to action our robust data sources

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Understand the components required to ETL (extract, transform, and load) data into a destination from a known source.
  • Experience with SQL or Python
  • Ability to collaborate via code reviews and regular stand-ups with a small team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility: ability to adjust and adapt to changing needs, priorities, and requests

NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS

  • Experience with a shared code repository, such as git
  • Interest in the gaming industry
