Data Pipeline Developers fill a critical role at NGP VAN, ensuring that data from our clients and their vendors is quickly and accurately available in our organization. They use their data-centric skills to work with other members of our technical and client-facing teams to ensure our clients can operate their programs at peak efficiency. The ideal candidate is someone who has both the technical skills required for the job, but also possesses experience within the political tech ecosystem who understands the unique needs of our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Process voterfile updates from a variety of data vendors

  • Process ad-hoc data loads from clients and vendors

  • Collaborate with client support to quickly respond to incoming support requests.

  • Provide recommendations for improvements to existing processes to departmental leadership

Crucial Skills/Experience – A good candidate will have all of these:

  • Experience writing SQL statements in a common RDBMS language(MSSQL, pgsql, MySQL, Oracle)

  • Prior experience working for a political campaign/organization, electoral-focused non-profit, or labor union.

  • Experience using a scripting language for basic file manipulation tasks

  • Knowledge of political districts, electoral calendars, voter files, and other core concepts of electioneering.

Additional Skills/Experience – A great candidate will have several of these

  • Experience with Powershell

  • Excellent T-SQL skills, including experience with dynamic SQL

  • Experience with the NGPVAN/EveryAction application

  • Understanding of basic query optimization in a MSSQL environment

This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by CWA Local 1400, 2336 or 13000.

Compensation

The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and in addition to benefits this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses/incentives, and equity.

US base salary range: $85,000 - $115,000

Please note that the compensation range specified in this job posting is applicable to candidates based in the United States. For international applicants, actual salary offers may vary based on the local market compensation standards and will be determined in accordance with regional considerations, including but not limited to applicable laws, cost of living, and industry norms.
