While this position can be fully remote, prefer candidates who currently reside in Ontario.  

What You’ll Do

As Senior Business Data Analyst, reporting to the Manager of Tailored Services, you will work with Bonterra’s clients and product team to develop common reporting data sets for Bonterra’s market sectors as well as custom client reports.  You will tailor solutions to meet these needs by querying a Penelope (PostgreSQL) database, creating custom views and functions to facilitate updating and designing reports and creating data visualizations and/or data exports in multiple formats. This is a very technical role involved with data migration, integration, developing custom scripts and views across multiple products – Penelope, Apricot as well as other Bonterra products.

• You solve client’s complex business problems by scoping, designing, developing, testing and demoing custom reports using SQL, Excel (including VBA), Tableau or other reporting/analytical tools. 
• You gather and document requirements and provide informed quotes for estimated effort.
• You write SQL queries and create visual representations of data in third party tools such as Excel, Tableau, and XML.
• You write custom API functions to support integrations to Penelope.
• You communicate with Bonterra’s clients regarding process and change requests, understanding the business issues and data challenges of their organization and industry.
• You liaise with project and business leaders to interpret analytical requirements.

Who You Are

You have hands-on experience with SQL (and other database languages), you know your way around databases – whether documentations exists or not. You are comfortable with tight timelines and quickly changing priorities. You are a self-starter and able to manage your time effectively, you ask questions, and have a curious mindset. You are a problem solver by design; client-oriented as well as analytical. You possess at least five years related experience in Mathematics, Computer Science, or Programming.

• You have strong knowledge of SQL and relational database management systems, with experience in querying databases with complex relationships between tables.
• You have experience creating dashboard reports in Tableau or other Business Intelligence tools. 
• You have hands-on experience with writing Python scripts.
• With outstanding written and verbal communication skills, you are able to succeed in a dynamic, driven environment, trail-blazing creative solutions to complex challenges.
• You are a self-starter who is able to learn new applications swiftly, independently, and with confidence. 
• You have expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including VBA.
• You have a track record following through on commitments.
• You can monitor deliverables and ensure timely completion of projects
• You have experience creating detailed reports and giving presentations to external stakeholders.
• You have an Undergraduate University Degree or equivalent experience in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science or Programming
