Lucidworks is seeking a Product Manager with a data science background to work within our Product Strategy team to define and support the development of AI-powered applications and features on the Fusion platform. The role plays a critical part in growing Lucidworks’ brand presence and driving new business.

Fusion is our cloud-native, ML-powered search platform that integrates open-source projects Spark and Solr with our proprietary code for user intent prediction, low latency search, hyper-personalization, and smart app creation. Our products include applications that run on the Fusion platform including Predictive Merchandiser, which helps eCommerce teams harness the power of ML to improve eCommerce conversion, Smart Answers, which enhances chatbots and virtual assistants with natural language processing and deep learning, and Never Null, which uses semantic vector search to deliver relevant results where lexical search yields zero results. You will collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Customer Support, and Partners teams to understand market opportunities, and with R&D and Solutions teams to define product initiatives and features. Your background in data science will enable you to collaborate with data scientists on the R&D and Solutions teams to identify opportunities to apply ML and deep learning approaches. You will be responsible for describing product features that are associated with measurable outcomes. You will succeed by managing a portfolio of ML features that delivers outcome-oriented results, rather than by delivering a number of features at some tempo.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Manage the definition, vetting, and scoring of product features by synthesizing ideas for product improvements and new features with data from market research.
• Collaborate with the Product team to help manage the product roadmap.
• Apply data science to evaluate potential approaches involving data analysis and ML/deep-learning models. Involves creating training data, training models, and aggregating data to support actionable insights.
• Write product initiative and feature requirements incorporating what the feature must do, the expected measurable outcomes of the feature, and how the outcomes will be measured.
• Work in cross-functional teams to build field enablement materials delivered in the form of product documentation, best practices blogs, and training workshop curriculum.
• Support Sales Cycles conversations in the capacity of product ownership and roadmap.
• Represent Lucidworks at technical conferences and user gatherings.
• Stay up-to-date on competing offerings in the market and build proposals on how to innovate in areas of high opportunity.
• Stay up-to-date on emerging approaches in AI-related product initiatives.
• Periodic travel as business dictates.

Desired Skills & Experience:

• 2+ years in applied data science. The ideal candidate will have experience in applying data science to improve the performance of product discovery or knowledge management products. You demonstrate an understanding of the product discovery and knowledge management markets.
• 2+ years in product management, technical sales, or technical implementation of scalable search platforms.
• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical field.
• Passionate about AI, machine learning, and the architectural concepts around scaling AI in search. You keep yourself up to date on the latest trends and are curious about how to apply them in a consumer setting.
• Have led high-impact customer initiatives that materialized in a lot of value to the organization through the application of search and AI.
• Have experience driving projects forward, writing detailed functional findings/requirements, diagramming, and solution architectures.
• Demonstrated ability to synthesize qualitative feedback and quantitative data to support vetting and scoring of product features.
• Exhibit great collaboration and communication skills at multiple levels of organizations.
• Extensive practical experience with search and relevance tuning on platforms including SOLR, Python, and Spark.
• Practical knowledge and understanding of technical details of state-of-the-art Machine Learning. Understand how AI and Machine learning projects are implemented.
