Remote: Data Scientist

Description: Showtime is seeking a data scientist to join the Data Strategy team. This role will report to the Senior Director of Data Science. Working alongside of Analytics & Insights, Consumer Insights, Programming Research, Finance, Consumer, Digital Marketing, Sales, and Product teams. The Data Science team focuses on providing robust analytics that transform billions of customer data points into useful data products and consumer insights that support data-driven decision-making in every corner of our business – e.g., content analyses, programming strategy, subscriber analyses, marketing strategy, forecasting models that influence Showtime’s scheduling and distribution strategy, and dashboards that are regularly used by Showtime executives.

About You: You LOVE data: you love exploring the nooks and crannies of data, you love developing pipelines that reliably and efficiently process data, and, most importantly, you love communicating data! We are looking for an individual who has experience creating and maintaining data products, whether these take the form of data-pipelines, Tableau dashboards, or statistical models. Successfully building data products at Showtime will require deep Python experience, writing code as part of a team (Git), and experience using statistical models in a business context.

Qualifications

  • 3 + years of hands-on experience developing data pipelines that culminate in statistical models and/or dashboards
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience writing Python (Pandas) and (Git)
  • Experience with media or subscription businesses
  • Experience with distributed computing (PySpark, Databricks) is a nice to have
  • Experience with Apache Airflow a plus
  • Experience with cloud deployments (AWS)
  • Experience building Dashboards (Tableau) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • We build and maintain ‘production-grade’ analyses, data pipelines, and statistical models
  • Developing a deep understanding of Showtime such that the candidate will work directly with key partners throughout the company and larger corporation to understand their analytics needs and translate these needs into reliable data-solutions
  • Clearly communicate critical metrics to key partners and data professionals throughout Showtime and the larger Paramount corporation
  • Develop deep knowledge about our data pipelines such that you can communicate the ‘who, what, where, when, how, & why’ of our data
  • Define new important metrics that help Showtime develop a deeper understanding of our business!
