Over 100,000 businesses and millions of people use 1Password to protect their most important information. Our mission has always been to ease the tension between security and convenience and help people navigate the digital world without fear or friction. Our culture encourages big ideas and new ways of working that help us to make the online world a safer place for everyone.

The Experimentation team at 1Password is responsible for evangelizing the use of data to learn from our users and make better decisions faster.

This role will be responsible for the foundations of experimentation at 1Password. This means being in charge of defining, measuring, and improving metrics that drive business outcomes, not just pulling data and answering questions.

This role will be responsible for:
1) Owning the end-to-end instrumentation and analysis for A/B testing
2) Solving unique problems for privacy-preserving experimentation
3) Making significant impacts in the growth of account acquisition, activation, and retention
4) Being a data advocate across the organization

The Experimentation team is brand new and starts with solid C-level sponsorship. We’re building a new function, which requires us to be ambitious yet realistic. And very scrappy. The starting mandate for the team is around user/account acquisition, so we’ll be working at the top of the funnel and (if we do well) expanding deeper into the product.

This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What we're looking for:

    • 5+ years of analytics experience, data science, or equivalent applying quantitative, statistical, or ML to improve product growth & activation
    • 3+ years of experience designing and assessing the impact of A/B experiments in a fast-paced team
    • Knowledge of research design and statistics: defining outcomes, creating test plans with sample sizes and minimum detectable effects, rigor in running tests to completion, analyzing and communicating results, and handling post-hoc investigations
    • Knowledge of statistical methods from the basics (proportional t-tests) through more advanced, like GLM, time series forecasting, bayesian estimation. When to use which, and when not to.
    • Fluency with data analysis programming languages (Python / R),
    • Expert fluency in SQL-based data manipulation - You can talk through how a query works through a window and across a join.
    • High level of comfort creating dashboards in Looker, Tableau, or comparable software
    • Reporting and communication - Have examples of being able to explain experiments to multiple audiences at various levels of technical understanding
    • Experience with a Growth team or building data products
    • Experience using pipeline/transform tools (like dbt)
    • Familiarity with best practices in data warehouse design, dimensional modeling, and ETL

What you can expect:

    • 30 days - Seek to understand
    • Get familiar with data stack and team goals
    • Identify gaps in measurement

    • 3 months - Start to contribute
    • Run and support experiments, ideally owning some from ideation through analysis
    • Work cross-functionally to equip the organization with the tools we need
    • Solved one major gap identified during the first 30 days

    • 9 months - Scale and grow
    • Suggesting improvements in process and measurement, increasing experiment cadence/impact
    • Automating common flows and analyses to make life easier
    • Expanding experimentation with one cross-functional partner
