We are looking for a Data Scientist Lead to join our Marketplace tribe. The Marketplace tribe owns the platform that is connected between accommodation offers suppliers and demand channels which expose them to millions of users. Empowering our users to find their ideal accommodation requires dealing with complex challenges, many of those are solved, or planned to, by core data products like real-time Pricing and Request optimisation, Hotel and Offer Sorting Order, Content Mapping, Deal Prediction and Recommendation, and more.

What you will do:

• Lead the vision, design, and effort of turning our huge datasets into advanced data-driven products solving core business and user problems;
• Manage a strong and experienced team of two Data Scientists and work on expanding it. Provide technical guidance across several domains, and ensure appropriate methods are used to balance impact, time-to-delivery, and technical debt. Foster a learning environment and support team members in levelling up their skills;.
• Use a variety of data science, statistical, and engineering techniques to generate insights about user behaviour and market dynamics, and work closely with the Product team to turn those insights into product opportunities and data-driven solutions;
• Take-on projects end-to-end, from business questions all the way to production;
• Work hands-on and collaborate closely with Product Managers, Data & Software Engineers to productionise your product solutions;
• Become an internal and external thought leader in knowledge domains the team specialises in.

Who you are:

• You have an M.Sc. or higher degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent industry experience;
• You have 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist in non-academic settings, including at least one year of managerial experience;
• You have proven experience being the focal point for data-driven solutions in a Product team, tackling a wide range of problems, using technical, statistical, and machine-learning techniques to find insights and turn them into product solutions;
• You are product-oriented and have an impact-focused mindset. You are capable of identifying valuable problems, devising appropriate solutions, and delivering results - while maintaining the right balance between agility, accuracy, and engineering best practices;
• You have a strong grasp of at least one of the following domains: classic Machine Learning algorithms, NLP, or Image Processing;
• You have experience in building scalable algorithms integrated into a high scale real-time decision-making platform;
• You have advanced knowledge of a programming language used for data modelling, such as R or Python;
• You are familiarity with modern ML frameworks and services;
• You are interested in and willing to learn about the travel industry;
• Software engineering experience - advantage.
