About the Team

Consisting of data scientists with backgrounds in several quantitative fields, the Acquisition Algorithm team leverages causal inference, statistical modeling, and numerical optimization to help Stitch Fix achieve its ambitious growth goals. We work closely with stakeholders in Growth Marketing, Engineering and Finance to identify and frame impactful problems, extract and formally represent causal information, and implement algorithmic solutions to these problems.  Cross-functional collaboration is deeply meaningful to us and is how we’ve built up immense trust with our partners in Marketing and Engineering.

About the Role

In this role, you will be a member of a team that develops and applies cutting edge techniques to quantify the impact of marketing spend and inform decisions about our large and growing investment in growth marketing. You will work with business partners to understand their needs and define manual and automatic processes that provide them with timely and actionable insights. You will use this experience to identify new approaches to measurement that preserve and enhance our competitive advantage.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Have access to a wealth of unique data and best-in-class algorithms, providing a solid foundation to build on
  • Work collaboratively to build a platform for scientific discovery in this domain
  • Advance the state of the art by developing novel algorithms to measure and model the causal effects of marketing spend and recommend optimal actions based on those phenomena
  • Be a data steward, ensuring that our raw inputs, intermediate results, and finished data products are accessible and useful in perpetuity

We’re excited about you because you have…

  • 3+ years work experience in a data science role
  • An advanced degree (or analogous expertise) in Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Epidemiology or other quantitative field
  • Experience motivating, planning and analyzing experiments in a variety of contexts (e.g. when user level randomization is not possible))
  • Defined processes and built systems that support execution of partially automated scientific tasks
  • Worked on mathematical modeling projects involving massive uncertainty
  • Managed evolving data delivery processes, balancing short-term and long-term delivery expectations through judicious use of automation
  • Production data science experience, i.e. not just fitting a model but being held accountable for rigor and reliability in production
  • Experience building and maintaining a python code base with multiple users
  • Strong, cross-functional communication skills that help business partners make the best possible use of available data
  • Familiarity with collaborative development of object-oriented software.
