About the Role

At Stitch Fix, we are revolutionizing our merchant and vendor interactions to be highly automated and algorithmically driven for fueling our desire to bring infinite inventory in a personalized manner to our customers. We are looking for a passionate leader who would be responsible for building a world-class product catalog management platform and backend suite of tools and services. This role would lead the delivery of complex data engineering projects to support how we ingest, store, and make our inventory data available across all of our business critical systems like algorithmic merchandising, BI and analytics, financials, and consumer facing properties. You will be managing and working cross functionally across teams of product engineers, data-scientists and machine learning engineers who have built and scaled organizations like Google, Netflix, eBay, Github etc and care about creating leaner and agile supply-chains that allow our business to continue to meet our customer demands. You will be developing, managing and growing a team of data engineers and leading by example with a passion for software craftsmanship and strong engineering process.

  • Set strategy and execute to build Stitchfix’s catalog management platform.
  • Collaborate with data science  leaders, engineering leaders and other stakeholders to roadmap, structure, prioritize and execute on catalog engineering requirements. 
  • Manage, mentor and grow a team of data engineers that support the increasing needs of our data scientists and merchandising organization.
  • Set and keep a high quality engineering bar for all data projects. 
  • Take ownership of key data technology decisions, with an understanding of long term business impact. 
  • Lead by example and grow an organization of bright, kind and motivated-by-challenge individuals and leaders that create great outcomes, while staying nimble and humble.

  • You’re smart, driven, and excited to learn new things
  • You work well with others and have strong communication skills
  • You have designed, developed, launched and maintained a company wide data lake preferably in the consumer goods industry and supporting diverse types of data as well as highly transaction solutions. 
  • You have a strong understanding of key big data technologies like Cassandra, Hive, Pig, Hadoop, Redshift, Snowflake and have experience with AWS stack 
  • You have experience making architectural and design-related decisions for large scale platforms, understanding the tradeoffs between time-to-market vs. flexibility 
  • You have 8+ years of experience in data systems, data engineering and data pipelining, and 5+ years of management experience
