Astronomer is the commercial developer of Apache Airflow, a community-driven open-source tool that’s leading the market in data orchestration. We’re a globally-distributed and rapidly growing venture-backed team of learners, innovators and collaborators. Our mission is to build an Enterprise-grade product that makes it easy for data teams at Fortune 500’s and startups alike to adopt Apache Airflow. As a member of our team, you will be at the forefront of the industry as we strive to make Apache Airflow the de-facto standard in data orchestration.

Astronomer is looking for an intern to join our Data and Intelligence team as a member of our growing developer advocacy program. We want data professionals everywhere to love using Airflow, so we’re investing in technical content, community building, and knowledge sharing to help lower barriers to entry and support the ever-growing Airflow user base.

As a Developer Advocate Intern, you’ll help us evangelize Airflow best practices through a combination of data engineering and the development of technical content, includingguides, blog posts, and webinars. In this role, you’ll learn how to be an effective developer advocate and work across teams in a rapidly growing organization. This is a three-month summer internship, with the potential to convert to a full-time position.

What you get to do

  • Become a great developer advocate – put yourself in the shoes of an end user and turn your technical experience into learning resources
  • Learn Airflow and data engineering best practices as well as other parts of an industry-standard tech stack, such as cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure) and Snowflake
  • Serve as a “day 0” customer for new Airflow and Astronomer features and integrations, providing internal feedback for continuous improvement
  • Contribute to our Airflow Guides by creating content on Airflow and Astronomer integrations, new feature releases, and more
  • Collaborate heavily with really talented (but down-to-earth) and fun teammates

What you bring to the role

  • You’re passionate about data and have a working knowledge of modern data tools.
  • You have a strong technical background and some experience coding in Python.
  • You’re passionate about teaching and sharing knowledge.
  • You’re a great communicator — you love writing, and can clearly express your ideas through a variety of channels.
  • You’re deeply empathetic and a great listener.
