Aura is looking for an experienced Leader for our Product Analytics Team. The Director of Product Analytics sets the vision and strategy for how the organization leverages usage and customer data to drive product innovation and personalization. This leader drives the development and adoption of instrumentation, tools and processes that help us better understand why users subscribe, engage with the product and realize value from Aura’s offering during that journey. The Director of Product Analytics manages a team of Data Analysts and Data Scientists, and works in partnership with the Data Infrastructure team, Aura Labs (Data Science) and Data Engineering, to ensure that Product teams are equipped with the insights and experimentation framework to create a best-in-class customer experience that is differentiated and personalized 

This role requires significant cross-functional collaboration across Product Management, User Research, Design, Marketing, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Support with a goal of centering the entire organization around a data-driven, actionable understanding of user behavior.

Day to Day:

Team Leadership & Growth: Grow the Product Analytics team, both in size and in talent development, to meet the needs of our fast-paced company with a hunger for user and product actionable insights.

  • Lead, develop and grow the product analytics team, driving immediate and long term impact on how we measure and analyze performance across the company
  • Data accuracy and thoughtful analysis are of paramount importance. As the leader of this team, you are responsible for ensuring that all analysts can consistently deliver high-quality, actionable analysis.
  • Create an environment that fosters accountability and cross-training and minimizes unnecessary steps

User-Centric Product Insights and Personalization: Partner with Product, User Research, Data Science and other teams to deeply understand user journey insights and product personalization opportunities.

  • Drives a user-centered, strategic approach to support a data-driven product development process. Prioritizes and manages the development of solutions to support successful execution of the overall product strategy.
  • Understands the goals of key user personas, including how, why, when and where they engage with Aura. Brings a user focus to understanding engagement.
  • Advocates on behalf of Product teams to prioritize development of data infrastructure, in partnership with the Data Infrastructure and Data Engineering, to bring capabilities that enable greater depth of understanding user behavior. 
  • Pushes actionable usage insights to Product teams to drive decision-making and enable a culture of experimentation to drive innovation.
  • Equips lifecycle teams with actionable insights to help users optimize the value of their subscription.
  • Takes an omnichannel approach to analytics, considering the many ways a user engages with Aura whether it be via desktop, mobile or other platforms

Analytics Execution, Reporting & Communication: 

  • Manage the design, execution, and analysis of A/B and multivariate testing programs to support both new features and optimization of existing capabilities.
  • Equips Product teams with the intelligence needed to understand the actions that lead to product activation, engagement and trial conversion.
  • Defines a Business Intelligence Reporting strategy to showcase key areas of opportunity for customers.
  • Responsible for the ongoing, in-depth analysis and distribution of Key Performance Indicators and translating key insights into actionable tactics
  • Develop and maintain weekly dashboard of products analytics and statistics
  • Partner with Data Infrastructure and Data Engineering in the data governance process for the company

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM, finance or related field, or equivalent experience required
  • 10+ years’ experience in Product Analytics, or Data Science in a B2C product organization 
  • 5+ years experience leading a team of high achieving analysts and data scientists
  • Proven record of successful metric-driven product impact in collaboration with an engineering team
  • Expertise in building Insights decks and influencing decision makers by quantifying outcomes
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and data warehousing concepts
  • Hands-on experience with data model development and reporting in data visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau
  • An ability to break down and explain complex technical concepts to business end users
  • Very strong critical thinking and analysis skills. Ability to take an ambiguous problem, use data-informed brainstorming, identify goals and clear metrics, and drive a team to deliver on those goals
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and enthusiasm for driving change with a collaborative leadership style
  • Very strong skills on SQL, Google Analytics, and Google Suite (Sheets, SLides, Docs, etc)
  • Strong verbal/written communication & data presentation skills
