About the Internship:

Unite Us is looking for a Data Science Intern to join our growing tech team that is transforming health and social services. As our Data Science intern, you will support efforts to reinvent health and human services and make a lasting difference for future generations navigating these systems. We are looking for someone who can help build a question-answering tool to support internal stakeholders as they have questions about our products, services, and operations.

Our 8-week summer internship class runs from June 3rd - July 26th, 2024.

What You'll Do:

• Use Generative AI / Large Language Models (LLMs) to help improve our products and services.
• Learn to wrangle and process big, complex datasets.
• Perform statistical analyses using SQL and Python.
• Learn to use cloud infrastructure to process data, build, and deploy models.
• Create a presentation tailored to both a technical and non-technical audience to communicate your findings, and help stakeholders make informed, data-driven decisions that will bring value to the company.
• Collaborate with other departments to understand how your work could benefit the company more broadly.

You’re a great fit for this role if:

• You are either a rising undergraduate senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Math, Physics, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science or related field)
• You have knowledge of Python, its “scientific computing” stack (e.g. Pandas and NumPy), and SQL.
• You have experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP).
• You have previous experience working with Large Language Models e.g. ChatGPT, Bard/Gemini, Claude, LLaMA, etc.
• You are a critical thinker, have scientific curiosity, are a self-starter and can work independently
• You are organized and have keen attention to detail
• You can clearly communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience 
• You have at least 1 year of general work experience

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions:

• This internship is remote, U.S. based 
• This internship is $20/hour for 35 hours per week
• Our 8-week summer internship class runs from June 3rd 2024 - July 26th 2024
