As the Lead Data Architect on the Enterprise Data Architecture team, you will be empowered to solve meaningful problems leveraging data for a brand with a bold mission: to Save Our Home Planet.  Your primary responsibilities include overseeing the technical roadmap of Patagonia’s data platforms while providing guidance and standardization in our approach.  You will communicate and own the technical strategy around the entire data lifecycle, from ingestion to governed data models.  Knowing that CICD is a critical component of a modern data platform, you will work with other analytic leads to ensure best practices are adhered to.  You know how to build data platforms that are highly scalable while allowing for development agility as the footprint expands. 

What You’ll Do

  • Help craft and communicate the technical vision for Patagonia’s data products
  • Collaborate with the Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering and Business Intelligence leads to make strategic technology decisions and set standards for the end-to-end delivery of data products
  • Skillfully balance the art of how and when to build consensus and when to make and own a decision
  • Help key stakeholders understand the long-term benefits and impacts of technology decisions
  • Ensure CICD standards are adhered to and refining the process where necessary to remain agile
  • Design access models that are secure and scalable
  • Build new processes and workflows that can be operationalized and handed off to other members of the data community
  • Keep a close pulse on rapidly evolving and emerging technologies and discern their value proposition to our org
  • Train, coach, and influence others of varying seniority and skill
  • Educate others in the data community on delivery standards through collaborative, agile documentation

Experience You Bring

  • Approximately 8 years in data related disciplines with the majority of recent experience focused on data architecture
  • Proven experience architecting modern scalable data platforms using SnowFlake and dbt at the core
  • Experience with modern data ingestion tools such as FiveTran and Azure Data Factory
  • Experience with modern orchestration tools such as AirFlow
  • Experience implementing and enforcing CICD best practices, preferably with Git
  • Knowledge of data modeling best practices
  • Highly proficient in SQL and python
  • Experience operating in an agile development environment preferred
  • Exposure to data science practices preferred
