We’re looking for a technical leader who can help shape how we collect and use real-world data to improve clinical outcomes. Our work lies at the intersection of many diverse fields including machine learning, signal processing, and epidemiology, and in this role you will be guiding team members on how harness vast amounts of time series data from wearables, sensors, and other mobile data to infer changes in health status and disease progression over time. The ideal candidate will have direct experience with architecting systems that drive quality data and software best practices, as well hands-on experience analyzing this data to support the study endpoints. RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manage and drive functional vision and priorities within a team of data scientists and engineers with diverse backgrounds and technical skills. Through this team, lead the design, execution and analysis of clinical studies for both client and internal research projects
  • Identify opportunities, define process and optimize workflows within the team
  • Work autonomously to lead, define strategy, and execute on initiatives with high business impact. Lead the design and execution of systems that curate clinical studies datasets for both client and internal research projects
  • Leads cross-functional discussion, planning and execution of complex programs
  • Mentors and coaches more junior team member with diverse backgrounds to drive learning and engagement
  • Communicate findings, roadblocks and timelines cross-functionally to ensure program objectives are met 
  • Build re-usable tools and models to predict health-related variables from time-series continuously collected from connected devices and apps
  • Maintain the highest level of rigor and develop best practices to build reproducible, generalizable, fair, unbiased, and preferably interpretable tools and models.
  • Manage issues and implement programs that ensure functional excellence across the organization
  • Promote and drive accountability to ensure the team maintains the highest level of rigor and develop best practices to build reproducible, generalizable, fair, unbiased, and preferably interpretable models.
  • Develop and review analysis code as a secondary responsibility

QUALIFICATIONS 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • PhD or Master's in computer science, data science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or related discipline(s) with 4+ years experience working in a related field, or Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience in a related field
  • Direct people and/or program management experience
  • Direct experience with design and implementation of data architecture, data engineering, data validation, and the curation of complex datasets constructed from a variety of sources
  • Working knowledge and experience with data science and machine learning methodologies
  • Proficiency in Python and PySpark
  • High level of motivation and willingness to learn new tools and ideas. Health Data Science is a nascent field where methods and concepts are quickly evolving

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with health data and working in a regulated space
  • Experience with devops and systems
  • Experience working with wearable data or IoT data
  • The ability to architect pragmatic engineering solutions while working with many cross functional teams and functions
  • Experience architecting data warehousing solutions such as AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Snowflake
