What this position is about:

The Data Science Team vision is to bridge the gap between strategic decision-makers at StockX. We serve as impartial, trusted advisors to the organization to drive and empower innovation. We prioritize holistic models and risk management techniques to solve business problems and develop a deeper understanding of the marketplace. We leverage that understanding to inform MVP development and test-and-learn approaches to expedite time-to-ROI.

As a Lead Data Scientist you will harness the complexity of our global two-sided marketplace and develop new features for internal and external users to grow the total resell market for consumer goods.

What you’ll do:

• Dive into the unique needs of buyers and sellers throughout the global marketplace
• Develop econometric, statistical, and optimization models with applications in marketplace design, pricing, and experimentation
• Conduct competitive analysis to inform strategic decision-making
• Present findings to both technical and non-technical business leaders
• Design new data visualizations to distill complex topics for internal and external users
• Partner with engineers and product managers to implement new solutions based on your prototypes
• Identify new opportunities to apply quantitative methods to grow the business
• Mentor junior team members and educate business partners on new approaches

 About you:

• Preferred advanced degree in relevant STEM field (Economics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Applied Statistics) or equivalent experience
• Ability to use a programming language like R or Python to work efficiently with large datasets
• Proficiency with SQL languages and other similar tools
• Experience with exploratory data analysis, statistical testing, and model development
• 5+ years of applied marketplace, pricing, yield management, or similar experience 
• Bonus points for experience modeling network graphs, designing for antifragility, or MCMC simulation
