As a Lead / Senior Data Scientist you will use your quantitative skill set, obsession and empathy towards customers, and collaborative spirit to work closely with partners across Wisetack’s business to provide data driven insights that take our product and business to the next level. We will level this role to Lead or Senior depending on experience.
Your analyses will allow us to deeply understand our customers’ behaviors and needs, identify drivers of our business, and uncover opportunities to grow and engage with our customers. Ideally you are highly skilled in experimentation, causal inference, and data science modeling, with a specialization in one of these domains.
Job responsibilities
- Act as a thought partner to senior leaders to prioritize and scope projects, provide recommendations, and evangelize data-driven business decisions in support of strategic goals
- Generate new hypotheses and business questions using a deep understanding of our data, our customers and our business, then design experiments, analyses, and data science models that drive product engagement, customer satisfaction, and growth
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship on solution design as well as lead code/design reviews
- Drive our maturity and scale through architecture, data modeling, and analytic tool/platform recommendations
Candidate requirements
- M.S. or Bachelors degree in Math, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative field
- To qualify for the Senior level role, you must have at least 3 years of hands on experience optimizing product engagement, marketing spend, business development activities and/or customer service though machine learning models and/or experimentation and causal inference, ideally at a FinTech - if you have additional experience, we will level this role to Lead
- Advanced SQL expertise
- Experience in applied statistics and statistical modeling in at least one statistical software package, preferably Python
- Strong sense of ownership to understand and communicate the actionable insights and recommendations that will drive strategic improvements, product engagement, customer satisfaction, and growth
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with various teams across an organization as well as present data insights and recommendations to executives and non-technical audiences
- Experience working with data sets that can be thin, meaning reaching statistical significance can be difficult and creative analytic approaches might be needed
- Can initiate and drive projects to completion independently
- Comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment, with its fast pace and fluid nature - delivering results with a small, lean team
Wisetack is proud to be a remote-first company! Employees in remote roles have the option of working remotely or from the Wisetack office in SF, and may occasionally travel to the Wisetack office or elsewhere for required meetings or team-building events.
