OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES

If so, Pluto TV has an opportunity to unleash those skills across media environments spanning Entertainment, Sports, and News on Paramount Streaming sites, specifically Pluto TV. The Paramount Streaming Data Management & Engineering (DATA Team) is a passionate group providing solutions for data needs across all Paramount Streaming properties. This includes Paramount+, PlutoTV, CBS, CBSNews, CBS Sports, and related Sports Properties. Our team is made up of varying engineering roles, including Data-, Software-, and Ingestion Engineering. We are responsible for driving the Paramount Streaming Data and Insights data strategy and standard processes around data collection, pipelines, usage, and infrastructure.

  • The Data Engineer Manager possesses a deep sense of curiosity and a passion for building innovative data pipelines and datasets to support statistical models and solid analysis. Work backward from analytical and experimental requirements to devise business solutions. Support Data Science, Strategic analytics and Reporting at Pluto TV and develop creative solutions using disparate data sources.
  • The ideal candidate will tightly collaborate with BI, Research, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, and Product teams to implement data-driven solutions that drive the business. They will have good communication skills and possess the ability to convey knowledge of data constellations and processes throughout the Paramount Digital Media organization. 
  • This candidate will be desired to lead a project from inception to completion as well as help mentor members of the team on standard methodologies and approaches around data. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with large volumes of traffic data and user behaviors to build pipelines that enhance raw data
  • Find answers to business questions via hands-on exploration of data sets via Jupyter, SQL, dashboards, statistical analysis, and data visualizations 
  • Serves as Technical lead for pivotal initiatives on data in support of Pluto TV and advocate solutions across business units 
  • Responsible for the day-to-day leadership for a Team of Data Engineers 
  • Plan and be accountable for the delivery of systems and tools that extract patterns from large data sets and transform data into an informational advantage and implement them into live systems
  • Technical lead on projects that fundamentally will enhance how Pluto TV operates and committed to data quality and validity, promoting automation were warranted
  • Work closely with team’s fellow directors on solving infrastructure, architecture, and framework needs
  • Has a vision for developing creative and effective tools and platforms to help run the business and provide executive reporting
  • Build solutions to business questions and look to automate efficiently while maintaining documentation, at times training impacted teams. 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • STEM undergraduate degree in Statistics, Engineering, Informatics, Computer Science or similar with a demonstrated passion for data management and engineering
  • 5+ Years and strong experience in Data Engineering & Analytics with Cloud platforms (GCP and AWS)
  • Fully managed enterprise data warehouse foresight with BigQuery
  • Experience with large scale data management systems such as Snowflake for 2+ years with advanced level understanding of warehouse cost management and query optimization
  • Hands-on Engineering leadership experience leading a team of engineers with various backgrounds on large scale, end-to-end, full life cycle data projects
  • Solid expertise in python
  • Experience with exploratory data analysis using tools like iPython Notebook, Pandas & matplotlib, Databricks, etc. 
  • Proficiency with large-scale data in structured and unstructured environments. 
  • Experience with data management systems, both relational and NoSQL and Cloud Systems and Architecture.
  • Solid Experience with data engineering and big data platforms as well as sound software engineering principles
  • Experience with data orchestration systems such as Apache Airflow
  • Experience with Data Modeling for modern and large-scale data analytical platforms. 
  • Familiarity with Github or other version control systems. 
  • experience with Jira for project management
  • Proactive and strategic problem solver with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Curious, flexible, and agile
  • Must successfully pass a background check

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $124,000.00 - 165,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
