Our mission is simple—we’re changing the way we care for our parents so they can live safely at home as they age. But how we accomplish our mission is anything but simple. Every day, we’re solving complex problems that don’t come with a playbook. Sound exciting? If you’re someone who shares our core values—Own the Outcome, Solve with Empathy, and Act with Honor—let’s talk.

Founded in 2014, Honor is now one of the fastest-growing, non-medical home care companies in the U.S. Why? We realized that by combining our amazing technology and operations with the local, personal touch of our partner agencies, we could make real progress transforming this fast-growing, $30BN industry. Honor’s unique approach is driving our leadership as an innovator—and our rapid growth. We have cutting-edge machine learning, a beautiful, well-designed app, and industry-leading design, paired with a strong sales, marketing, and support engine. But we're not a tech company, we're a human company. The technology we design just helps our people be even better at their jobs.

We are looking for a Manager of Data Engineering to help build our data organization. You will be responsible for building out a team that provides high quality datasets to the entire org. Your team will own our data warehouse as well as the associated pipelines and infrastructure, working closely with our analytics team and our data scientists to ensure that our data stack works end to end.

About the work:

  • Set the long-term technical direction for Data Engineering at Honor, including systems for capturing and storing data, our etl infrastructure and data warehouse.
  • Define the strategy for how Honor approaches Data Engineering, working cross functionally to ensure key stakeholders, business and product requirements are aligned
  • Assist in the transformation of complex data structures into relevant information that can be used by Data Scientists, Analysts, and the business
  • Manage the Data Engineering team, including day to day execution and long term planning. You will solicit new project ideas, prioritize them for impact, and drive execution across the organization.
  • Work with recruiting to source qualified data engineering candidates, improve our interview process, and make great hires to continue scaling the team.

About you:

  • Passion for managing talented engineers in a fast-paced environment
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering work experience, with 3+ years in managing productive data engineering teams
  • Deep knowledge of industry best practices in data architecture and systems.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • A bias towards action and an iterative approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience actively coaching and mentoring team members in their careers.
  • A high level of organization and the ability to prioritize tasks and keep projects on schedule.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.
