About the Work:
We are looking for a Sr. Data Platform Engineer with experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable distributed systems & infrastructure. The data platform engineering team builds and manages the infrastructure, core services, tools, and platforms that enable data storage, processing, and access across Honor.
This is a highly technical, hands-on role that requires a wide and deep experience in managing applications and infrastructure across cloud services. It requires deep practical knowledge of cloud platforms, advanced software design patterns & architecture, operations and automation, and containerization technologies like Kubernetes. You will work closely with Data Analytics and Data Science teams as your main stakeholders and partner with Platform Engineering and Product Engineering as your peers.
The ideal candidate is driven by providing business value, is comfortable working with systems at varying levels of maturity, and appreciates making nuanced tradeoffs. You will be joining a small team of highly-skilled, enthusiastic, and passionate engineers with an opportunity to create an outsized impact in contributing to the future evolution of Honor’s Care Platform.
What are we looking for in a candidate:
- You thrive in a foundational role supporting diverse, cross-functional teams as your customers, and possess exceptional problem solving and analytical skills.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in an engineering function with a strong understanding of challenges in a data organization (software, platform, or data engineering experience).
- Design and implement foundational patterns and libraries for Python applications across a range of data focused technologies from API services, event processing, and workflow management tooling.
- Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to ensure reproducible and scalable environment setups.
- Design and implement infrastructure for applications hosted on AWS, supporting event-driven systems, containerized services on Kubernetes, and data pipelines managed by tools such as Airflow.
- Develop and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, ArgoCD.
- Have experience automating the lifecycle management of code from development through production, including code promotion and configuration management.
- Instrument observability through tools such as CloudWatch and DataDog to monitor and optimize application performance across multiple environments.
- Scale infrastructure to meet increasing demand while managing cost effectively.
- Have passion for delivering turn-key developer experience for local development.
- Strong written and verbal communication, tailored to a variety of audiences.

- You work at or have worked at a technology startup and are familiar with the challenges of evolving platform maturity.
- You have first hand experience navigating multiple distributed architecture patterns.
Our range reflects the hiring range for this position. We use national average to determine pay as we are a remote first company. Individual pay is based on a number of factors including qualifications, skills, experience, education, and training.
Base pay is just a part of our total rewards program. Honor offers equity and 401K with up to a 4% match. We provide medical, dental and vision coverage including zero cost plans for employees. Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability and Life Insurance are fully employer paid with a voluntary additional Life Insurance option. We offer a generous time off program, mental health benefits, wellness program, and discount program.
Hiring Salary Range
$171,500—$190,000 USD

Honor is remote friendly! We're hiring across the U.S., with an entirely virtual interview and onboarding process. Most of our positions are remote/work from home and do not require permanent relocation. As conditions allow, we have office space for in-person collaboration in our San Francisco Bay Area, CA, Austin, TX, and Omaha, NE hubs.
