Looking for an opportunity to apply your research skills and expertise to improving employee experience and people strategy? Operating as part of the People Analytics ecosystem at Salesforce, the Research team is a small team of people research scientists and listening specialists working to help inform and transform Salesforce’s people strategy. In this newly created role, we’re looking for a people research scientist to join the team. As a Senior People Research Scientist, you will perform research, evaluations, and analyses into the employee experience at Salesforce. A key success indicator for this role will be the ability to provide timely, accurate, understandable, impactful, and actionable research insights to executives and senior leaders to help inform and transform people strategy. The ideal candidate will have strong quantitative skills, and demonstrated ability to apply organizational research methods and theories to create impactful research insights.On the team, we all get our hands dirty, and all love working with data to solve business challenges. Critical to our team’s trusted reputation is our ability to partner with and influence key stakeholders, design and implement the right analysis approach, and provide insights that can be easily understood and used by the business. We use data from multiple systems and sources to produce thoughtful analysis with little direct guidance and an understanding that the results may be iterative. Our point of view matters to our stakeholders, so the ability to illustrate complex analysis in a concise and simple fashion using tables, charts, graphs, and stories is important to our success.   • Conduct statistical analyses connecting multiple sources of organizational data to provide accurate, thoughtful, and actionable insights on people issues and strategies
  • Partner with teammates, leaders, and stakeholders across Employee Success (HR) and Salesforce to develop a deep understanding of current and emerging people issues and challenges, identify priorities for research, and execute impactful research projects, evaluations, and analyses
  • Assist in the redesign of our employee surveys and listening program by identifying and advising on which data/questions are most impactful/informative at different points of the employee lifecycle
  • Work proactively to identify emerging opportunities for research insight and propose new research projects or analyses
  • Provide subject matter expertise and advice on research design, data collection, survey/questionnaire design, and/or program evaluation to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Contribute to developing and executing on the team’s research agenda
  • Collaborate with data engineers to access data and explain data requirements
  • Collaborate with people analytics consultants to communicate findings to senior leaders and business partners
  • Communicate analyses and results, along with implications, to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrate impeccable ethics and judgement when dealing with confidential data
  • Share research insights both inside and outside the organization to become a thought leader in this space
Required Skills/Experience:
  • PhD in a field emphasizing people research in organizations (e.g., Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Management, Organizational Development, or related degree)
  • Experience conducting empirical research in organizations, including research design, data collection, statistical analysis, interpretation of results, and making actionable recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business strategies, needs, and priorities into research questions or hypotheses, and select and apply appropriate research methods and/or statistical analysis approaches to provide actionable insights back to the business.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct analyses using R Studio, R, or Python, specifically data cleaning, manipulation, basic descriptive analyses, mean difference testing, and range of regression analysis approaches.
  • Subject-matter expertise and experience in employee surveys/employee listening, applied organizational research methods, and program evaluation.
  • Deep expertise or specialization in at least two areas related to employee experience, such as but not limited to: leadership, learning and development, employee wellbeing/occupational health, employee engagement and retention, diversity and inclusion, teams, organizational change and development, employee motivation/reward/performance, or organizational culture.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Expertise and applied experience in at least one advanced analysis technique such as multilevel modeling/HLM, latent growth modeling (LGM), time series analysis, NLP or topic modeling, ONA or other similarly advanced/novel/emerging analysis techniques.
  • At least 2 years experience in either an industry or applied research setting
  • Experience working in tech or other fast-paced industry setting
  • Demonstrated expertise and interest in questionnaire/survey design and employee listening approaches
