Salesforce has an enterprise-wide charter focused on data management capabilities, including Data Management Maturity, Data Strategy, Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Operations, Data Platforms, and Data Literacy. The team’s mission is to ensure that every decision-maker at Salesforce has timely access to the trusted data they need to increase margin and to guide us to increased revenue.

The Senior Director, Data Governance and Risk Management will lead the definition and maintenance of Enterprise Data Managent Policy, Standards, Training, Council management and establish the data risk framework and measurement guidance for the company.

Responsibilities
This leader will be responsible for driving data governance for the company through delivery of best practices while demonstrating and delivering business value in a fast-paced, volatile, and complex ecosystem. 

* Develop and maintain a best practice-driven Enterprise Data Management Policy and associated standards
* Identify the data governance needs across the company and establish incremental policies and standards, as required
* Partner with Privacy and Security counterparts to define a comprehensive set of data requirements and the associated operating model for implementation
* Lead the Data Councils and their associated working groups
* Onboard new data stewards and provide training on operationalizing the enterprise data strategy within their data domain or data sub-domain
* Define the data risk framework for the company and periodically assess the company's risk tolerance and ongoing risk level, as well as remediation activities where risk level exceeds tolerance


Required Skills 

* 5+ years experience as a Leader in Enterprise Data Governance or similar environment
* 5+ years experience defining data elements and establishing policies and procedures related to the collection and accuracy of data or similar experience
* Experience managing centralized, matrixed resources preferred, with a strong focus on leading teams across several geographies and time zones
* Strong data governance background that includes driving strategy, architecture, governance, tooling and enablement
* Effectively drive consensus across organizations and clearly articulate governance strategy, vision and business values
* Familiarity with data maturity models and Salesforce products a plus

* Commitment to continuous improvement, successful at leading by influence, and excellent at building business cases for investments to improve data management
* Ability to be agile, proactive, and comfortable with ambiguous specifications
* Effectively motivate people, instill accountability and demonstrate the value of data across a wide range of individuals (engineers, data scientists, analysis, service owners, executives, customers, auditors, etc.)
