The Job
We're looking for a finance & strategy leader to support and evolve our Marketing Strategic Finance & Analytics team. This team is responsible for identifying and managing budget, planning and analytics for the Brand Marketing organization. Its charter is to evolve our growth strategy across Host and Guest communities. The Brand Marketing team is responsible for first initiating new guest and host journeys by defining people’s first impressions of ‘what it could mean to host’ and ‘what traveling on Airbnb could look like’ through Brand campaigns (e.g., TV, podcasts, videos), and then continuing to engage with that audience through product and performance campaigns (e.g., social, Google) until they’re ready to host or travel.
This person will work with cross functional teams spanning marketing operations, data science, finance, marketing strategy, and product marketing to help evaluate and synthesize analytical insights, perform rigorous financial analysis, develop go-to-market strategies, and drive operational excellence. This person is expected to be a strong cross-functional business partner who has a combination of hands-on analytical skills, financial modeling expertise, business savviness, and the ability to package their insights into strong narratives appropriate for senior executive consumption. The ideal candidate relishes in rolling-up their sleeves to drive meaningful impact, possess strong stakeholder management skills, and is a self-starter that is comfortable with ambiguity in a fast paced work environment. This person will have a high degree of visibility with senior management within the organization, including VP of Marketing, Director of Brand Marketing, Director of Brand Marketing operations and Finance leadership.
- Investment Approach: Support strategy discussions on spend allocation & pacing between finance and Marketing leadership
- Budget Tracking: Partner with Financial Operations to track Brand Marketing media and production budgets in order to inform strategic allocations
- Target Setting: Establish KPI framework for brand marketing channels and campaigns. Set and monitor KPI targets, OKRs, and efficiency goals
- ROI Evaluation: Develop ROI calculation methodologies with DS and Research, and lead holistic campaign reviews - accounting for qualitative and quantitative impacts
- Reporting: Support weekly reporting needs from Marketing and Hosting orgs as well as quarterly campaign performance reviews
- Analytical Deep Dives: Conduct deep dives into business trends and drivers of variance. Independently lead data extraction, analysis, visualization, and presentation.
- Strategic Support: Partner with Brand Marketing, Product Marketing and Hosting leadership to develop strategy and support business performance
About You
- 10+ years of relevant experience. Ideally you have an analytical background in marketing analytics, strategy consulting, business operations, investment banking, product management, or have been in a similar embedded internal consultancy role
- Deep understanding of Brand Marketing channels, including TV, Social, Online Video, Podcast, Radio, and OTT. Familiarity with media buying operations is a plus.
- Expert in Brand measurement concepts including setting campaign-level KPIs and tracking performance and ability to work with data science on Marketing Mix Modeling and A/B Testing.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to put together clear, compelling narratives that are appropriate for consumption by senior executives including the CEO, CFO, and other senior leaders
- Superb financial modeling skills and extensive experience conducting quantitative and qualitative financial analysis
- Deep experience and understanding of two sided marketplaces, development of market entry strategies, and helping scale businesses
- You are proactive, great at communicating with different audiences and can bring stakeholders on-board.
- You seek out and have a track record for driving change and impact in a fluid, unstructured working environment
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics, accounting, engineering, statistics or other relevant field that demonstrates quantitative orientation. MBA or advanced degree a plus
- You can comfortably manipulate large datasets, create new analytical frameworks, and develop actionable insights.
- Strong knowledge of SQL or some other querying language and using those tools to help synthesize complex information is a plus.
The Location
This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. The Pay
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base pay for this role is between $155,000 and $195,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
